All art is abstract but . . .
This little book is a gem. Other books I've read about abstraction have been guides to creating an abstract the particular author's/artist's way. On the other hand, How to Paint Abstracts combines elements of abstraction with examples from several other artists, showing how their work developed the way it did. Combines just enough thoughtful text with beautiful illustrations. Small but mighty.

A GEM OF A BOOK
This is a small gem of a book ! Highly recommended for realistic painters who wish to transition to more abstract painting.

Smaller type book - FULL of great info on abstract painting!
Wow! This is a great book. Lots of great information on how to go about painting abstracts. Gesture painting, using fillers/textures, preparing surfaces, how to get started, where to go from here. 96 pages in color with great details. I love it and so glad I bought it. "Pocket Art Guide" but 8.5 x 5 3/4" is bigger than a pocket.
