Awesome Go-Kart
We bought this Go-Kart for our 11 year old son for Christmas - 2011. We read several good reviews that explained the kart in great detail and watched it demonstrated on You-Tube. We were pleased that the Go-Kart was what we expected. To begin, let me just say our son LOVES it. The wheels are smooth making it easy to spin around. My son, who was being very cautious at first, discovered this by surprise when he turned more quickly than usual and the back spun around behind him. You should have seen his face light up! That was very cool! As he became more accustomed to the way the kart worked he began to make the spins on purpose. For my son, this was just a bonus. His orginial intention was just to have a go-kart that he could drive around in the neighborhood that was faster than a power wheels. This kart goes about 10 miles an hour and a little faster going down hill. A safety helmet is advised for this reason and I have told my son that he may not let his friends drive it unless their parents agree to supervise them while they are on it. It is powered by batteries. The batteries last anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half depending on how many hills you encounter. It takes about 3 hours to charge so he can drive it usually two or three times a day which gives him several good long rides. This kart has a sharper turn that makes it easier to operate. So far, he hasn't run into any curbs or damaged it because of the turn radius. That has happened to us with other vehicles in the past so we were careful to make sure this one would turn easily allowing for more control. As it was explained in the review we read before purchasing it, the sharper turn radius does not cause it to flip or lift its wheels off the ground. The wheels glide and don't grib the surface of the road that might ordinarily cause it to flip. Also, it is very low to the ground which decreases the likelihood of flipping. I am a very anxious mother about these things and I feel very confident that he will not get hurt on it due to flipping. My one concern is that the kart is not easy to see. It is small and low to the ground and I'm afraid that cars may not see it especially at the corners when they are turning. There is a flag, but, it isn't brightly colored so it is recommended to add a brighter orange flag to alert drivers of the kart. The kart can be driven on sidewalks or any safe area with a smooth surface. The kart will fit under SUV's so if the child doesn't have control of the kart and runs under a parked SUV he/she will get there face smashed. Make sure there are no trucks or SUV's parked nearby when the child is first learning to drive it. There is a break that works well and once the child knows how to operate the kart this shouldn't be a problem. It took my husband, who is very handy about putting things together, about 20 minutes to assemble it. It was late, however, and he made a few mistakes that would cut that time about in half. It is heavy. Because it is small, it doesn't take up much space in the garage.Make sure you supply a small pillow or cushion for your child to sit on. It gets very uncomfortable very quickly on their bums and may discourage them from driving it. Have fun!

even with an adult on them and they're low enough to the ground that you feel like you're going faster
I bought 3 of these, 2 normal ground forces and 1 drifter for a birthday party. To make a long story short, I built a go-kart track in part of a warehouse office that was available. I let about 30 kids go wild for over an hour without a noticeable battery drain and they all had a blast. These karts go significantly fast, even with an adult on them and they're low enough to the ground that you feel like you're going faster. Thankfully, none of the kids in my track wrecked, although a few came close, so kid ability and discretion is most likely preferred. The kids who were injury prone or too young had the most trouble driving. The older kids and better experienced-hand eye coordinated ones had a blast.I do recommend a helmet-in case of those injuries, and the safety harness so the kids don't fall out. The karts turn tightly, so you can take turns fast-the normal ground forces grip extremely tight, and the drifter is actually quite hard to control. At full speed it will pull 360s into tight turns, so learning to drift is an experience in itself. It also does little benefit-pitting the drift against the normal ground force had no benefits in our little track and laps, and I eventually changed the wheels on the drifter to normal wheels. Even on our hairpin turns, the normal karts had better cornering to counter the drift and acceleration afterwards was better since the tires gripped on. The drifter tended to spin out sometimes as well. And, it works best on smooth surfaces. The warehouse floor was poured concrete, with a few bumps. There's no shocks so those bumps hit hard, although not too bad-but enough for me to realize that taking these on any bumps/potholes was too much. You will want a smooth surface for a smooth ride.If you like speed, your child likes speed, or wants to get a realistic racing experience, buy one. It's well worth it, and they are awesome to drive. I am a 175 pound adult, and even though it does slow slightly, it's still fun to drive. If they made one slightly longer and as powerful for an adult as the child version, I would snap it up. I am aware of the crazy cart, and these are different, albeit more car-like.And if I get some time, I'll post some videos of the track so you can see the speed.
