Good trainer, but could be better yet
Okay, so this is the FIRST and ONLY trainer cup that my 10.5 month old son will actually take expressed milk or formula from-- we have been through more types of sippy and straw cups than I care to count at this point (over 15). Despite my excitement about this, I will attempt to not let it taint my review. To give this product a fair appraisal, I must mention that the spouts are VERY much like a bottle nipple. This could be the primary reason for my son's immediate acceptance. We are moving in the right direction, so I don't take *too* much issue with it, but I wish there was another "stage" spout yet, so in the near future I could possibly "graduate" my son to a "real" sippy cup (firmer spout). If you have ever tried Nubys, the "spout" is almost identical in feel/composition, but the shape is a big departure (my son didn't like the Nuby products)-- the closest thing I could compare to in shape is the Born Free trainer spouts (again, no success with those for milk). Now, if like me, you are a self-professed sippy cup expert, to the point of drinking out of one yourself all day to model the "correct" behavior, the baby in you will appreciate that there is no great effort necessary to get the liquid from the bottle. The adult in you will also appreciate that they are almost leak-proof. When tipped on their side or almost upside down, I found a VERY minor drippage; maybe one drop/20 seconds. Yes, I'm very analytical about sippy cups. They go together very easily-- no rocket science here with a million parts or lining things up-- so simple, even a husband can do it ;0) To my disappointment, the spout/nipple frequently collapses when my son is drinking. I have noticed several other people describe the same thing-- I think this is the price you pay for fewer parts-- my son doesn't seem to mind *too* much, so I am more than willing to live with it. I should also note that before purchasing ([...]-- less expensive for bottles), I wrote to the company with questions and did not receive a reply until 6 days later-- too long by my standards, and coincidentally? about the same exact time this review appeared on Amazon (I am presently editing to reflect that I did indeed receive a reply). :(The bottle cap "squishes" the spout/nipple on the conversion kit-- does not seem to affect their present function, but possibly in the long-term? Also note that it seems these parts are compatible with my Born Free bottles-- we have only used them that way a handful of times, but we did not experience any leaking issues (but the inner BF workings are necessary for tight fit). Note that I bought this conversion kit AND a separate set of Thinkbaby bottles, because the "complete" sippy costs a small fortune from merchants who have it in stock at this writing (2/10). I have since ordered more from Amazon, based on the shipping vs. total cost tradeoff. Although this is the first sippy that my son has really taken to, I can only give it 4 stars. Now on to the abbreviated list of good and bad.PRO:LightweightEasy to cleanFew parts (it doesn't get much more basic-- I like that)VIRTUALLY leak-proofSimilar to bottle nipple (also in my list of cons)Easy flowAttractive designCON:MINOR drips/leakageSimilar to bottle nipple (I'd like to have my son use a "real" sippy in the near future)Collapsing spoutCap "squishes" spout when secured on for travel

love the options of conversion
As a preliminary review, I love this because I acquired a bottle from a friend, and when looking for transitions from bottles, was happy to find out I could add to what I had rather than buy more gear. That being said, we haven't used it yet and are finding that we may be able to skip sippies altogether because my daughter has taken to rim drinking really well, although messily so far. I've got this around for those times when maybe a mess is not okay (we've yet to find these times, though daycare has been somewhat resistant to rim drinking with the short term mess management). It stinks that conversion kits frequently cost as much or more than similar full new sippy items, but I'm still happy to seek them out, have less stuff around, promote this sustainable design choice. I also recently bought Thinkbaby's Bottle to Straw top conversion kit, which was even harder to find and receive from obscure seller, but similarly, I'm happy to choose that option as needed.

Very good transition
Great transition as your child can keep their "bottle" while still transitioning to a sippy in comfort. The handle is very nice and made my daughter feel like a big kid. The sippy "nipple" is soft an flexible like the regular think baby nipple so its an easier transition once they get over the shape difference. Worked well for my daughter. She went from these to non bottle looking sippy cup no problem. My son had a cleft and sucking issue and these conversion 'Nipples' were not good for him just as an aside. He did not like them. I still think for a straight forward eating baby they are great though.

Great for transition from bottle to sippy cup
We've been using the Thinkbaby bottles since my son was born. When he was 9 months and ready for a sippy cup I figured since we already had all the Thinkbaby bottles I'd give these a shot. They're soft like the bottle nipples, making it easy for baby to transition to a sippy. These don't have the valve like the bottle nipples but we haven't had any problems with leaks. My son seems to have taken to them well. I've now replaced all our bottle nipples with these. They're free of BPA and harmful chemicals. It's nice that we didn't have to throw out the bottles and buy all new cups. Another eco-friendly plus. These are definitely worth trying if you're already a fan of Thinkbaby bottles.

Great!
I received the bottle starter kit as a babyshower gift, but now I need to convert to sippy cups only. I already had the bottles, and just needed to replace the bottle nipples with the sippy cup nipples and I had a whole new collection- without spending a fortune. These sippy cups work great and my baby really seems to be able to hold and suck all by herself. She prefers the Thinkbaby sippy cup to any other.Only downside- the lid is not a tight seal, so if mixing formula in the bottle with the lid on, you have to be very careful when you shake it.

It's a good change from his MAM baby bottle since it has ...
It's a good change from his MAM baby bottle since it has that flat surface too. Only bummer is that my son is still on slow flow and this is just too fast for him if I give it to him at night or nap time he has it all spilled in his hair neck etc. So I just give it to him during the day, when eating or thirsty and it works well.

I love the Bottle, but the sippy conversion has some downfalls
I want to start out saying I LOVE the thinkbaby line of products. The stainless bottle is amazing. My baby love the handle in this kit; however she tends to collapse the sippy nipple and then pulls it completely out of the ring. I think this could be fixed if the sippy nipples had the same air vent that the bottle nipples have. she did not pull the standard nipples out of the ring.

Great for late transition from bottle to trainer.
My daughter is 3 years old and was still attached to the baby bottle. It was the only way she would drink her milk although she would drink all other liquids from a sippy cup. I tried this bottle conversion kit and she was okay drinking milk from it and now we don't need her baby bottle anymore. I love how it's the same material as a baby bottle nipple so they don't have to get used to new material on top of new spout. I also like that the orange handle is removable because older children don't need it and it would just get in the way.
