This book needs a very serious UPDATE!!! Dry as a bone, overly technical and not friendly in its presentation of evaluation theory unless you are a affluent white male. The theories are difficult to digest and the book lacks examples that provide any continuity to the subject. This book would benefit from new perspectives and real world examples from current professionals.

Very useful as a reference text. For my money, the authors have made a real effort to provide a useful middle of the road interpretation of many important concepts in evaluations. It deserves a prominent place on the bookshelf of any working evaluator.

A useful manual that helps to understand how evaluation approaches do match demands with the utility of any evaluation exercise. It should be further updated to the policy analysis evolution, the dynamic features of risk society and the raising role of social networking
