20th Century Pattern Design, 2nd Edition

This is an excellent, informative book. It's thoroughly researched, well-illustrated, and presents an historical framework for the development of modernist textile designs in the 20th century. Each chapter features sections arranged by geography, so the reader can see how design movements occurred in countries and then influenced textile designers in other countries.

Very good examples of textiles and wallcoverings. Eye candy.

It is a kind of encyclopedia about patterns, no explanation about how they were made, processes, artistic analysis... some history about authors but nothing else.

Fantastic.

Purely on a personal level I love this book because my late brother David Exley, graphic designer, gets a mention.
