Orthodox Christian Prayer Book, is a 4inx6in updated edition of the Newrome Press An Orthodox Prayer Book (978-1939028389, 3inx5in Pocket Edition). This new 4inx6in 230pp edition is a round-back hardcover bound in blue cloth with gold-stamping. It has been beautifully printed in full-color, with many icons, gilded edges and two page-marker ribbons. It also includes two new sections by St. Nikodemos of the Holy Mountain (translated by Rev. Fr. George Dokos): Prayers to our Lord Jesus Christ (written in the style of an Akathist) and Safeguard for the Soul (a thirty-day meditation intended to encourage spiritual watchfulness). Review: His prayers are taken from the Holy Fatherโs of the Orthodox Church - One of the best purchases Iโve ever made. It is the old version of the orthodox prayer book if youโre interested in orthodox, you need this. Review: A Treasure Which Every Christian Should Own - This book made me gasp. It is truly a beautiful holy text. The size is perfect for taking with you everywhere. The binding is just wonderful. Too many times have I come across poor binding in publications for Eastern Christians. It even has end papers inside the covers. Who does that anymore?! A very welcome, long-forgotten aspect of book binding reappearing in this volume. The layout and graphic design is amazing as well. No copy-pasted, pixelated line drawings here. There are many richly colored icons from Mt. Athos (a couple of Pantokrator, Theotokos depictions, St. John the Forerunner, the Prodigal Son come to mind) and original line art interwoven throughout the text. The wonderful aspect for me was that the images were not printed on a glossy photo paper like most books but a sturdy, cream paper. The color scheme is as what would be expected for any Orthodox prayer book: red and black with red framing around the prayers passed to us by our Holy Fathers. The typography is very well done and in excellent taste making good use of titles, negative space, and stylized text to distinguish between headings, prayer content, and rubrics/liturgical instructions. The prayers are wonderfully chosen and especially put together with a lay person in mind. For example, after the introductory prayers of the morning prayer the book gives you the option to simply end the morning prayers there, or to continue on as needed. This is perfect for people living in the world who struggle to split their time between our earthly obligations (like getting to work on time!) and the duty to worship God. I ordered this book because it's a small volume, but it has some major hours (morning prayer which uses the hexapsalm and doxology, and vespers) with minor hours (3rd, 6th, 9th) along with akathists. I don't know of another Orthodox prayer book that contains all of these things in one place, which is an instant win for me since I actually usually only have time and energy to pray during the day rather than night or evening, which most Orthodox prayer books for lay people seem to be emphasizing. I would have liked to have the text of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom so I can use it as a typica (I don't live near any Eastern churches) which is sadly missing, and the typica itself is missing as well, but I'll live. The rest of the content and its portability and quality make up for that for me. Buy this for yourself or as a gift for anyone. It's well worth the price.

Wonderful little book
Great little book with a list of prayers. My son was interested in it and asked for it. He has since asked for another copy to give to a friend.

Grateful for this book
Love it so much. It is high quality, has 3 page marker ribbons, visually the cover is beautiful with the shiny designs and golden christogram. It includes beautiful icons, colors and designs on each page, very easy to follow. I prefer a lot of the prayer translations in this book, I think it makes things easier to understand for beginners. Another final thing I really appreciate is how everything is organized clearly, with occasional notes, occasional quotes, and art at the beginning or end of a section. Absolutely lovely prayer book.

Great book
This will be a great tool for life. It's a good size for me, some complain its too small. The pages have no smell or scent which is great because some books have a chemical smell, this does not.

Must have for every Orthodox catechumen!
Nice prayer book. Though I was expecting more prayers from the Saints but overall it's a great prayer book. I use it daily.

I love my prayer books
This prayer book was exactly what I was looking for to have as my on the go prayer book. I already have a large one and I wanted to keep that at home. I saw that this book was by the same publisher so I thought maybe it would be similar and good to keep the same prayer habit. When it arrived I was so happy to see the size. Itโs compact but not too small. The quality is beautiful. The prayers are exactly the same as my large one which is perfect for me because I want to eventually memorize them and having the same wording will be better. It has 3 ribbons to use.

High quality prayer book
Fantastic quality Orthodox prayer book. The cover is of a good quality and the gold also looks great on the cover and the edges of the paper. The paper is also of a high quality and the font size is more than decent enough to read. The book is around the size of an adult males hand so it can fit easily into your pocket or bag. This book contains all the prayers an English speaking Orthodox Christian could need. I highly recommend this book to any catechumen and even someone that is a life long Orthodox Christian.

Beautiful prayers in modern English
Very accessible and beautifully written edition, without using archaic English. Much depth. Great for everyday prayers. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Prayer Book, easy to read!
I absolutely love this prayer book. It is easy to read. My 10 years old daughter likes it as well, different kinds of prayers and in a simple language using You/Your.
