The two men met into Bk 1 and their relationship really heated up in this book. Bridge initially identifies as heterosexual, but as he gets to know Eric, he realizes he is more likely bisexual, especially as he remembers his encounter with a man in college. All he knows is that he's never been as attracted to anyone as he is to Eric. Eric reciprocates the attraction, but he has a lot of abandonment issues related to his parents putting him in foster care as a teen and all that happened after. Can these two men find their way through their issues to get the type of commitment they want? Is it just Eric that rings all of the bells?We get to watch in anticipation as Bridge, 28, with long blonde hair and brown eyes, and solid muscles, flirts with Eric. Eric, 30, with short cropped dark blonde hair and blue eyes, is also muscled and loves his job taking care of folks. He fixes up Bridges injury.Their slow progress is fun, and each man feels the spark. Eric's past sadness is told and there has been no one in his life that has ever chosen him, not even his own folks. He's afraid to be let go once again.Bridge knows he wants Eric, for sure, and he's absolutely certain, and will try to show Eric how much he means to him. Here we revisit Bridge Sullivan, the tall, shaggy blond stud who seems to be the straightest of the life-long trio of rodeo pick-up men which include his ranch co-owner Kent and their openly gay pal Marty.It was Marty who forced his secret lover, champion bull rider Tripp, to eventually come out in the rip roaring, heartbreaking and somewhat violent first book. In that book Bridge was somewhat of a fringe character but clearly identified by the rest of the rodeo crowd (and perhaps the author) as a ladies' man. However, the Prologue here gives us a new twist on defining gay, bi, or straight when we find out Bridge has become obsessed over the past four months with Eric Palmer, ex-New Yorker who was assigned to be the paramedic for the rodeo circuit and became fast friends with the other three guys.The first book was clear that Eric was gay, not particularly closeted, but also extremely careful in the way he expressed his sexual identity around his new friends and in their milieu. In Let It Ride it becomes obvious that he and Bridge have deep, and very erotic, feelings about each other and their inability to be honest with each other at first is doomed. But it leads to an explosive and somewhat troubled romance that will grip you with its clarity and contradictions, and draw you into a world where the prejudices of the past have been rapidly deteriorating to the acceptances of the present--and future.This is a wonderfully written, beautifully paced, and in the end quite believable book that will have you breathing heavily throughout.
