Edited - My installation error - all units work.
EDITED on October 5, 2016. Turns out that the unit that I thought was not working simply had a battery wire unplugged. I can't recall if they came that way, but that's possible. When I went to take the "malfunctioning" unit down, I saw the connector for the battery was not plugged in. Plugged it in, and the unit worked properly. So, my bad. I move the review to a 4 star - I'd give it a 4.5 stars if I could, because it does its job, but it's not particularly bright, and the mating design of the front and the back half is not particularly intuitive.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________Bought 3 for use in our tavern. Installed two. If you've done any wiring, installation is simple. Of the two I installed, one failed the push button test within a few weeks of install. When you push the test button, the light does not come on. I take that to mean that it will not come on when the power goes out as well and the unit is junk. The second light comes on when you press the test button. Quite obviously, when my failure rate is 1 out of 2, I can't give this a good review.

The price is good for this light
Haven't had an idea how this light going to work and last. The price is good for this light. However, the battery came completely dead. I don't know it would charge it back to full after plugged in the wire goes into circuit board. After installation, I tested and so far, as expected:1) Red light on. Indicated there's A/C powered.2) Hit button, red light a/c indicated went out, and LEDs lights on.3) Release button, LEDs lights off, red a/c on as expected. The 3 stars rating because:1) When there's power outage, how long would the lights stay on?2) I already have to look for replacement battery. NiCad rechargeable battery is short life.3) The mounting back plate, with pre-templated mounting holes, I found that those molded template are hard to break off. If I try to break out one pre-molded hole, it seemed to break/damage the whole back plate. My previous lighting, most of template holes were open, ready to nail.

LED Emergency light
Good product at a reasonable price.

Does the job
Seems to work well and the new, small battery packs are much easier to deal with and less expensive than the older style 6 volt lead-acid sealed batteries. Should have much better life expectancy, too. Easy to install. The plastic housing isn't the strongest, so care must be taken when installing. The plastic is a bit brittle.

Good for the Price
Ditto to a previous post. I hooked up in basement to give enough light to get my generator hooked up. Seems to be working fine. I was able to use an old hard wired smoke detector so perhaps even an easier install for me. This is not a high quality made light but didn't expect that for the price. I'd buy another one if the need arises.

Cheaply made light
A really cheaply made product with some poor directions on a single sheet of paper no diagrams whatsoever. I broke off the bake cover connected the battery inside and it did work. For 120v install just snip the orange wire tape or wire nut the end and hook up the black and white wires. No ground, and you got it. I drilled two holes in the housing to mount it as there where no mounting provisions apparent. Probably better off to spend a few dollars more and get something decent. Not recommended.

Get rid of those messy lead acid batteries and switch to NiCad LED emergency lights
An excellent emergency light using LED and NiCad rechargeable battery technology. This is a great product to replace existing lead acid battery backup emergency lights that have failed or are badly corroded and damaged. These are light weight and easy to install. They perform as stated and provide the necessary emergency light during a power failure. Currently these are being purchased to upgrade old emergency lighting in a church and fellowship hall. I would recommend these lights - a great value.
