This Putty is AWESOME!
October 2019This is the second tin that I have bought of this putty. The first one, I used with my Boy Scout troop and on a campout with my grandkids this past weekend. It was cold and windy and we were wanting a small quick fire with which to warm up. The blue putty that I got was amazing! I had used it before with my troop and had ordered a can for my son who is an avid camper all over the country. The one for my son came while we were on our campout and I know that I will order it again. It is a wonderful product and makes starting a fire quick and easy.Thank you for producing a great and useful product! By the way, the customer service is awesome too!January 2021I thought that I had submitted this review, but found that I hadn’t, so I am adding to it.I have used PyroPutty several times while camping with my scouts, including rainy conditions. Several new leaders were totally impressed, so I got each of them a can for Christmas, to their delight. I stand by this product and appreciate its capabilities.

Best fire-starter out there for fire pits, camping or the apocalypse!!
After watching video of this stuff, I had to see if it was really that easy - it is!!Recently I have been putting together a ‘go bag’ and practicing some camping skills. One of the most difficult is starting a fire with ‘firesteel’. You know, those annoying ferro rods that look so easy on the package? I had been using dryer lint, which catches easily, but burns out quickly. I also have a magnesium brick to make shavings from, which works, but is a pain and requires tinder or something to actually make a useable flame. And of course all of the above has to be super dry...Enter the Pyro Putty! This stuff is incredibly easy to light with the steel striker and it burns long enough to catch small kindling. You can even light it while it’s floating on water! I tried the orange summer weather variety (they also have some blue stuff that stays supple in freezing temps). It has the consistency of real taffy, or like that of well chewed gum. Basically you get a large blueberry sized piece and pull it apart a couple times exposing the fibers. Stick that on a piece of kindling, a stick or whatever you going to use to base your campfire (I used a piece of birch bark). All it took was 1 spark to hit the fibers and voila, a nice sized flame that burned long enough for me to get my campfire going!! I transferred the burning putty p, in its birch bed, to the fire pit and pushed it under the pile of kindling. A few minutes later I was kicked back with a cold one watching the kids make s’mores. I haven’t used it as a trail marker yet, but it seems sticky enough to work for that. I’d also like to see if their ‘dual arc’ lighter works as well as claimed. This definitely earns its ‘required’ standing for the bug-out bag, and at the size of a dip can it definitely isn’t a size sacrifice. I will be buying more to have around for camping and fire pits and am happy I no longer have to dry a bunch of clothes before disaster strikes!!Full disclosure - In addition to a nice hand written and addressed thank you, I was asked to give a review in exchange for a small gift.

Really helps get the fire going
My son-in-law seems to be able to get a fire going with small sticks and a bit of paper. I find that method problematical. Using this, I was able to get it going easily. You just pull off some, which leaves points that are easy to light. Stick the lump onto some klindling, light the tip and voila!I didn't buy enough of it.

Came in a bag rather than a tin can.
Came in a bag rather than a tin can. Not a big deal it works really well. I would rather have the can for storage purposes in my hunting pack. The bag may come open.

Excellent product!
My EDC kit is now greatly enhanced. I tested this product, using dryer lint as well as little twigs and dried grass. What a blaze... and a long-lasting one, too! Now, I'm packing some (wrapped in ClingWrap) along with dryer lint into empty mint-tins, then wrapping the tins with Cling-Wrap, too!

Excellent product, don't hesitate to buy
This is exactly what I was looking for for my bug out bag. I purchased botht the winter blend and the summer blend as i do most of my hunts and hikes in florida where temerature can range from 30-105 degrees. I put the Putty in my freezer to test its pliability and it is super pliable at 25 degrees. The Summer Blend is perfect right now in florida with the temperatures being around 75 -90 degrees. The winter blend at 75 degrees is also easily workable. Regarding its ability to being ignited, it was super easy. It burned just by one strike from my ferro rod. Would highly recommend this product to someone looking for a sure way to start a fire. With it being water proof it really is a no brainer.

It isn't hype---it really works
I finally got around to trying out the Pyro Putty. I always carry a tool called Strike Force with me when I go into the forest. So I pulled a little ball of Pyro Putty out and it only took about 5 spark tries to ignite it. It burned for a long time. This was just a test so I would know how it works should I really need it in an emergency. I am totally satisfied. I added the putty to my pack. It is great peace of mind. With Pryo Putty, one cotton ball and strike force I can get a fire started in any weather. Great product. It is easy to ignite, light weight, but the best feature is how long just a small ball burns.
