Gladiator 4' Wide GearTrack® Channels, GAWC042P

The gear track channels are very easy to install by drilling a screw into a stud. The best feature of the gear track is the simplicity of adding hooks wherever you want them, as when you decide to change where you are hanging your tools, you easily slide it over or swap it out. As you can see from the pictures, gear track can hold heavy items like gas powered tools or lighter tools like smaller hand tools. A simple solution to hanging everything is to drill a hole in the handle, add two zip strips to make the top zip strip perpendicular to the hook, and the tools are easily removed from the hooks and replaced onto the hooks. The individual hooks can be pricy, but be assured, you will not be disappointed in your purchase. Make sure you buy the box of eight standard hooks as a starter set.

Wow, this is just what I needed. It was super simple to through up on the wall and it allowed me to hang up just about everything I had laying around in my garage. There might be some hope yet for getting my car back into the garage. It seems well made. It's a solid piece of some kind or hard plastics. It has a bit of weight to it despite being plastic. Despite being so solid, it's surprisingly easy to cut through and drill holes into which make it a pleasure to work with. I bought the GearTrack and GearWall Garage Hook Accessory Kit 2 which is way more than what it necessary for just these two 4 feet tracks, so I also bought 96 in. W Garage Wall Storage GearWall Panel (2-Pack) as well. I do wish the accessories weren't so pricey, but I suppose this is how they get you.

These things are so very awesome, love 'em, great purchase!! I used #8x2" Spax silver constructions screws and boy, WAY better than drywall screws. Seriously, I've been hooked on drywall screws for just about everything for years, and the construction screws go in so much easier. But back to the Geartrack - speaking of screwing, I really do like the little indentation that makes it so much easier to put up. Tip: Level and mark in a couple of places on the wall where you want to hang this, and use just the tip of a black marker to mark in that little indentation where you want each screw (obviously at the studs). Then take the Geartrack to your workbench and get each of your screws started in the track - just a tiny little bit, just enough to hold. I did this, made it SO easy to hold up to my leveling marks with one hand and use the screw gun with the other hand to drive a couple of 'em in enough to hold it, then I could relax, take my hands off of it, and drive all the screws hassle free with just the one hand.

This is made of heavy plastic and I have not had the system long enough to speak to its long term durability. Right now it seems to be doing extremely well. One advantage of the plastic is that if your walls are like mine and not truly flat, the gear track can flex a bit to follow the wall. They are easy to drill and the hooks can be installed and moved around easily as well. You need to be able to find the wall studs to mount them on the wall, Plan on putting two 2" deck screws through the piece of geartrack and drywall and into the studs every 16 inches. If your studfinder is giving you problems, tapping the wall, probing with a nail etc, will work ok because you can cover up your probe holes with the geartrack. We are pleased with the neatness, appearance, and improved roominess and accessibility of our garage after putting in 24 feet of geartrack with 24 various hooks (8 heavier duty). We also used ladder and wheelbarrow hooks from separate manufacturers.

I actually preferred using this to mount my cabinets versus mounting the cabinets directly to wall. It makes it a one person job and you can slide the cabinets sideways to their perfect location.

I love these boards, they are sturdy, and the Gladiator hooks that go into it work very well, and there's a wide variety of them. I bought the Gladiator GarageWorks GAWE24WSSH 24-Inch Wire Shelf, and the Gladiator GarageWorks GAWE24MBSH 24-Inch Mesh, plus I had other Gladiator hooks I had bought at Home Depot, they all worked seamlessly. In terms of weight, I've loaded both shelves with about 20 to 25 pounds with no issues nor bending. I also loaded other hooks which put extra weight on the board without any issues at all either. I did anchor them with screws every 18 inches (2 of them every 18 inches, 1 on top track and the other on bottom track), each screw is rated for 50 pounds load capacity.
