Tomtom Start 25 Replacement Battery - 700mAh (Tool Kit Included)

So far, the battery is working well. However, it is a lower rating than the original TomTom battery- 700 mAh instead of 920 mAh. But first I had to work out how to get the SatNav open!I had expected the tool kit to come with some instructions, but it did not. Opening the device is not really obvious! To help others, here is a brief guide, based on my experience:1. Pull off window suction mount, a ball and socket on back of SatNav (its quite firm, and it helps to twist and pull at the same time).2. Undo the tiny Torx screw in socket of mount, using the second largest (blue handle) of the 4 Torx drivers provided.3. Carefully prise open the case using the plastic lever tool, starting nearest the mount socket.4. Disconnect the gold coloured "ribbon" connector between the screen and the circuit board (this is held in place by a white sliding fitting, which only moves a few millimetres).5. Undo the 4 tiny cross head screws holding the circuit board.6. The battery is between the circuit board and the case, and has a simple connector plug, which may need levering off with a small screwdriver blade. You may find it helps if you also disconnect the loudspeaker cable, which can be refitted after screwing the circuit board back.7. Re-assembly is the reverse of above. Good luck!P.S. You should probably use an anti-static wrist band, to avoid the risk of zapping the electronics, but I got away without doing so. A lot depends on the sort of carpet you have (Nylon is really bad!)

The battery works well it seems. This deal was advertised as coming with a tool kit to deal with the tiny screws involved with dismantlement. Mine came with no tools at all and so in desperation I had to improvise with kitchen cutlery which was extremely frustrating. Another reviewer commented on how to dismantle the Tom Tom. Without his review and without one I found on Utube the job would have been nigh on impossible for a layman as there are no instructions at all. Because I did not have the correct tools to remove and replace the tiny screws involved I was unable to fully fasten them on reassembly. I have since acquired the right tool to tighten them up but of course that involved yet another dissembly. My advice is to make sure that you have the correct tiny screwdrivers for firstly the single retaining screw under the suction pad and secondly the four tiny retaining screws which secure the board inside the opened Tom Tom as they are not the same screws. I consider myself lucky not to have damaged anything but at least I have revamped the Tom Tom for a tenner or so which is a far cry from a new one at a hundred odd.

Original was 920mAh, this is smaller capacity at 700mAh (as advertised). It is also physically shorter.However it fits fine and a YouTube video made it easy to work out how to replace.It was advertised as coming with a tool kit - but only the battery came = annoying. But Never mind - it was good value and arrived promptly.

Not sure it is worked ad TomTom still broke could be other problem
