It whistles but it works. Alternator is identical to oe in appearance, but as another reviewer noted, the plastic back is very brittle. It arrived with a very small corner chipped off, but I installed it anyway. Be careful handling or maneuvering into tight spaces and tightening down bolts for connections.The car (2005 Saab 9-5 wagon) is our workhorse for trips to garden center, lumberyard, dog park, so price was right. It charges right at 13.4 V. We’ll see how durable it is & update.

I ordered the 1st alternator, put it in and then found out it was dead. The replacement alternator No. 2 worked for almost a week before it died. I installed No. 3 about a week ago and have been too scared to let the car run for more than 10 minutes since. I would not have bought anything past No. 1 from this manufacturer, but I had no option other than a replacement or I would have taken my money and gone elsewhere.

Great value for money Worked however it does make a whine noise when up in the Rev range. Which can get annoying

I too can confirm this is the correct alternator for a 2002 Saab 9-5. Appears to be of good quality and for the price, it's a good buy. The plastic shroud on the back is somewhat fragile, but it serves it's purpose of shielding the electrical connections below it. One thing that could be improved is the strength of the pulley. The ridges can be dented rather easily, as happened to me, but if you're careful, you should be fine.

my mechanic charged to put it on and take it off it was defective was unable to use it

Alternator was exact fit for Saab 9-5. As of today charging system is back to normal operation.

Alternator doesn't work properly. Headlights are pulsing whenever car is stopped. Worried it will die completely any day.
