Love Part One & Part Two

16 dollars well spent!
So I purchased the album cause I am a huge Blink, Box Car Racer, +44 and Angels and Airwaves fan it arrived two days later. I was surprised but enthused! So I popped in L)VE pt 1.Et Ducit Mundum Per Luce: It opened up with a beautiful electronica track that pulled me towards space and delighted me with it's calm melody. Sadly you don't hear Tom's voice but it is a great opening track. 9/10The Flight of Apollo: Like most Angels & Airwaves songs it has a long intro that picks up heavily and has a catchy line not to say it is redundantly used just that it is a signature /\\//\ thing. This track sounds similar to a Box Car Racer track but with the /\\//\ spin. 9.8/10Young London: This song is a truly amazing song worthy of single status with its catchy melody and chorus it provides strong drumming from Atom and a very powerful bass line. I would recommend listening to this song for everyone! 10/10Shove: The song opens powerfully with a melody and tone that makes you feel like your drifting throughout the stars. While it has powerful lyrics written by the stunning Tom Delonge with his powerful indistinguishable vocals it is a song that will make any man or woman fall to their knees with an orgasm same with all the tracks on this album and all albums in his career. 10/10Epic Holiday: The song starts off with a powerful beat that makes you want to march or ramble in a chant for /\\//\ then the guitar cuts in with a powerful and beautiful melody. Then when Tom cuts in the beat steadies allowing the song to calm until the guitars cuts in then the chorus comes which makes the song seem truly epic. This song is filled with mixed emotions and it is beautiful! 10/10Hallucinations: This song starts off like 'A little's enough' but it picks up with a great melody that makes you want to dance, then the song calms to Tom's voice then picks up for the chorus he sings. It continues that for the song. I have to say this song is worthy of it Single status. 10/10The Moon Atomic (Fragments and Fictions): This song is a powerful and a imagination driven track that is more or less a slow track but it is beautiful and it drives you to imagination land where your dreams come to life and the song has a amazing meaning. 10/10Clever Love: This is another slow song but it picks up a bit later on but this track is a deep thrilling song that makes you cry a bit because of the lyrics and the melody and beat. Toms voice is amazing in this song as-well. 10/10Soul Survivor (...2012) : Get yo' tissues ready it is a sad song. The song opens with a powerful riff from a keyboard and Tom's deepened slow voice opening to this song makes it feel like your in terror. Then the song picks up continuing with the sad lyrics, while the chorus is a powerful catchy line that is so depressing but this song still keeps me in space so it is not a bad thing. 10/10Letters to God, Part II: This has to be one of my favourite songs on this album completely under appreciated. It opens slowly but builds up to really good pay off going into the 1st verse carried until the chorus by Tom's voice then it carries onto the 2nd verse which is beautiful then it carries on to the chorus and the beautiful outro. 10/10Some Origins of Fire: The song opens like a faint long lost memory it feels great then it transfers into the heavy uplifting melody. Then when Tom starts to sing it is really powerful and it makes the song more fuller and it carries a heavy message of love which is great. The song has a really beautiful melody it deserves to be a single. 10/10Once the album is done I pop in Part two.Saturday Love: This song opens very menacingly then the song pops in with a amazing guitar riff and by the time Tom starts singing I am like "dang shiz just got real!". The chorus is amazing and so is the rest of this great opening track. 10/10Surrender: The track has a great opening that makes you get pumped then Tom's vocals join which makes it 10x better and it turns more into a chant. But then when the chorus comes it hits you with amazing rebellious catchy lines. Overall this song is amazing and perfect for a single it gets the point across yeah we are Angels and Airwaves!. 10/10Anxiety: Oh this single where do I begin it is a perfect song anyone should listen to. It makes you cry, laugh, orgasm, and love all at the same song definitely a highlight! My Heroine (It's Not Over): This song is a slow song that is so beautiful sometimes I feel Tom wrote it about a dude and that dude is me! Just like he wrote Breathe for me <3! But this song is strong and catchy it is also filled with Tom's sexy voice... My body is ready. 10/10Moon As My Witness: The song starts off with a really amazing spacey tone that makes you feel as if you shooting through the stars and Tom's soothing vocals makes me cry from various places while the melody slowly builds u. I enjoy this song alot worth a listen or two. It is also good for sleep or that day where everything just gets better! 10/10Dry Your Eyes: The song opens with a very good electronica into a really great heavy beat and riff slowly switching between the two while using the latter. When Tom's voice comes in I get the 'Everything's Magic' vibes from this song. Compare the two if you want. 10/10The Revelator: The song opens very heavy and it lets you know it is there and Tom's vocals in this add on to that. While the chorus adds on and it is great it makes you feel full of life and it is worth a listen. 10/10One Last Thing: The song opens with a strong beat and great electro infused guitar riff cutting into a great pick up riff while Tom's vocals in this song is like a chant and it is powerful and I brings you up and gets you pumped. 10/10Inertia: It begins with a good beat to indulge your senses to bring you into this song then it picks up sucking you into this song making you feel the instrumentals deep inside while the vocals are fitting and sound very angry definitely not towards me but this song is a great song and it makes you feel so alive. 10/10Behold a Pale Horse: This one starts in a menacing tone while carrying a soft melody bringing it into a coming of age motivating melody and beat making you dance while Tom's vocals sings his powerful message to get you into this song and makes you feel great and powerful. 10/10All That We Are: This song starts with a slow beautiful melody with Tom's icy cold voice letting you know it is over and it is really beautiful and uplifting it kinda makes me cry. Then at the 3 min mark the song picks up with a really heavy riff which is like a fair well as you make your decent back to earth flying into earths atmosphere and it leaves you happy of what you heard while letting you know that we will be back to carry you into our scared land. Then the song ends with a bang. 10/10After that amazing experience I watch the film.L)VE the Motion Picture. This is a amazing indulging experience into space. It is a beautiful ride into your senses of emotions.I know I can't put too much into this review but watch it trust me I promise it is amazing! This left me still throwing my wallet at the album!

Consistent Excellence (Aurally and Visually) and an Unbeatable Value
There's a lot of music on this release (two CD's worth) plus an intriguing science fiction movie, that features some of the music on the CD's. The music is reminiscent of epic guitar-reverb drenched early U2 combined with '80's new wave (especially with the synth tones) combined with some progressive rock tendencies combined with space music. Whew! The singing is quite accessible with many great vocal melody lines. Some favorite tunes from Part One are "The Flight of Apollo" and "Some Origins of Fire"; and from Part Two, "Surrender" and "Dry Your Eyes". But really, you can't go wrong with any of the songs, they're all consistently excellent.Regarding the science fiction movie, it is a treatise on our need as human beings for relationships and interaction with other human beings, illustrated by the concept of an astronaut on a solo voyage in space, during which trip evidently humanity for some unknown reason comes to it's complete demise, thereby making the astronaut the last human being alive. How he deals with this terrible situation psychologically is portrayed in this movie (he seems to lose his mind, as you could imagine.) Some instrumental portions of the music on the CD's is sparingly used in several scenes of the movie. Although the movie is intriguing and well done, it does not seem to tie in that much with the two CD's of music contained in this three disc package. But do not consider this a detraction from purchasing this set of discs. It's a great value indeed for a tremendous amount of excellent music and a thought provoking movie.

A unique perspective on Life
This review is for the CD/DVD Combo, the DVD has the Love movie.I am a big fan of AVA, and when they released Love 1 for free on the internet I grabbed it. It was with this that I found out the group was working on the movie "Love". The sneak peaks were pravocative and enticing with the AVA music in the background.I decided to get the movie finally, and couldn't wait, so I overnighted it. The packaging is cool, and comes with some mini-posters, a nice treat. The DVD/CD container folds out linearly with a spot for Love 1, Love 2, and the movie.Whatching the movie does require some focus (and I plan on watching again) as there a subtle details and events that can be missed. There is a theme of "WAR" over what I perceived as 3 time periods, which seems to be the theme of real life as it stands today. As a lone survivor on the space station, the lack of human interaction and contact over many years takes it toll to the point of the spaceman wanting to jump back to earth...Literally! The movie takes a slight turn into the sci-fy realm which I won't go into, which ties in with the theme of "LOVE", but get the movie to understand it.There are a few bonus music videos of the AVA band which are cool to wathc. The Love2 CD is great, and is classic AVA.

Good stuff
I love this record! I love part 2 more in particular. Angels and Airwaves never fail to bring me to a whole different world that is not the real world. There's always a sense of grandeur and majestic feel to their music. I don't know how to elaborate on that, but it's there! So, no question, the record is great! But, I do have a problem with the movie DVD. Mine plays well till about the 40th minute of its runtime. So, I'll never know how the story ends, although, quite frankly I haven't even been able to grasp the beginning of the story either XD

Super!

Sublime
I'm quite new to AVA - and it's been a very long while since I came across a new album that just glued me to the hi-fi from beginning to end IMMEDIATELY - and hooked me completely. This work is stunning. Simply stunning. Amazing guitars, dynamic and clever synths, brilliant drumming (the best since Clem Burke's in Blondie IMHO) and Tom's vocals are brilliant. And the songs are terrific - there's not a single dud on either disc and every track is a winner - and although all the songs have a similar flavour, they are each all distinctly their own and you can sense the playlist that forms the LP - that song A leads to song B, to C etc, so it's very well crafted as you're led through the songs in the order them you're supposed to hear them. There's a slight hint of Blade Runner to the overall theme too, which totally works.Love is just a big-sounding musical treat and a feast for the ears that has roared effortlessly into my Top 10 LPs of all time. Yes, it's that good.Thank you to the band.

Sounds & sights capable of evoking a real sense of wonder. Pure quality.
I stumbled across the movie 'Love' on Amazon Instant Prime and sat down to watch it one evening - I found it absorbing, atmospheric and thought provoking, in the same vein as 2001, Moon etc. Make no mistake, you absolutely have to be in the right mood to watch it as Love is pretty slow moving - this is the polar opposite of an action movie! But if you're in the right frame of mind it's a real treat and will evoke a sense of wonder with it's stunning visuals & soundtrack (you'd never guess this film was made on a shoestring budget). The music (along with the amazing visuals) contribute massively to the film's powerful atmosphere so I tracked down the soundtrack - I noticed it was by someone called Angels & Airwaves (whom I hadn't heard of) and I assumed this must be some kind of ambient music artist. Anyway, I got both the part 1 and part 2 CD's and after about 4-5 listens was blown away. While the music has a lot of atmospheric synths, soundscapes and echo'y / processed guitar notes (which makes it an ideal soundtrack for the film) it actually also has plenty of full-on modern rock elements (totally my bag) - and it all comes together magnificently. When I found out who was behind A&A I couldn't believe the guy from Blink 182 (Tom DeLonge) had come out with this! But fair play to him - he has pulled it right out of the bag. I won't talk about individual songs (see other folks' reviews of the individual albums for that) but I will say that in my humble opinion both CD's are as strong as each other. And even though there are 2 parts here it really all sounds like one big album; huge on atmosphere, melody, sound (big, clean production) and sheer catchiness - it's inspirational stuff. Think modern space-rock done exceptionally well. Suffice it to say Love 1 & 2 are now firm favourites in the Zero-G collection (along with Milliontown by Frost*).Oh and I simply had to have the deluxe edition - and it's a quality package indeed. Hugely recommended.
