Excellent USB-C Hub for Thinkpad X390
Short Version: - Good build quality, nice packaging, carry pouch is a nice touch. - Connects wired USB mouse, wired USB keyboard, HDMI monitor and ethernet without problems - Works (for the above) with or without laptop charger plugged into it. - With charger plugged in, powers and charges Thinkpad X390 (using 65w Lenovo charger) - Nice alternative to a larger, less portable dock - Anker customer service is excellent Gripes: - I don't use the card reader, and would have another USB port or HDMI port in its place I'm using this with a Thinkpad X390. In my setup, it connects a wired USB keyboard, wired USB mouse, an HDMI monitor and my ethernet network to the laptop. I wasn't certain from the description whether the product would power the laptop as well (but wasn't too worried as I have two USB-C ports, and figured, if it came to it, I would charge the laptop via one, and connect the hub via the other. It does charge and power the laptop via the PD socket though, using the 65w Lenovo charger supplied with this Thinkpad model. Taking the charger power cable out of the hub will briefly pause operation of the connected items, but they spring back into life without problems. UPDATE - this no longer happens - I'm not sure why, but operation of the connected peripherals continues uninterrupted if the charger power cable is removed or plugged in. As ever with Anker, the product arrives nicely packed, and has a reassuring, quality feel to it. The pass through charging works nicely with Lenovo's 65w charger, and the hub works whether plugged into the pass through charging or not. I use it as a more portable laptop dock, with only one thing to unplug should I need to move away from my desk. Using this also frees up the laptop's USB ports (previously taken up by the wired keyboard and mouse). Personally, I don't use the card readers - while it's sort of nice to have them available, more USB or HDMI capability would have been better, I think. In all, an excellent product.

A USB-C Hub worth the purchase
The Anker PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB-C PD Ethernet Hub is well built the metal outer case make the product feel premium which you get with all Anker products, as well as great value, you also do not need to have a power adapter attached to the hub to use it, the device is light compact allowing to be very portable allow you to take it with you, and comes with a nice travel pouch, excellent for using on the tv in your hotel room, or showing a presentation and need to connect projector or tv, the device is also good for productivity as in my case I use if with an iPad Pro and it allow me to connect all my external devices such as a USB microphone, external storage devices with ease. If you are looking for a USB-C Hub In my opinion you cannot go wrong with the Anker PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB-C PD Ethernet Hub, great value, great quality, with excellent flexibility on functionality a well worth purchase.

True Quality
The first thing I noticed opening this product was the quality- it’s a beautifully made product, it’s very aesthetically pleasing and feels solid. It is a little bigger and heavier than i expected but with the amount of ports it is to be expected. Works exactly as you would expect, it is fast and also versatile with such a selection of ports. I would highly recommend this product from my personal experience. I was unsure about paying the price at first, but you really get what you pay for. The quality is unmatched by similar other products.

Based on its build quality cautiously optimistic!
Initial impressions whilst waiting for a laptop delivery is that aesthetically this hub is built to a quality standard compared to most of the other options available. The box and presentation is neat. The hub is a shade of dark grey, it's surprisingly small with just the right amount of weight and balance for its size, casing feels like a type of composite material although the description suggests aluminium, still it feels like decent quality. All ports have a nice tight and clicky feel so no fear of anything falling out or working their way loose. The dual USB 3.0 ports do however leave enough space for slight lateral movement once a cable is inserted that is typical of most devices with type A ports but I would have preferred a tighter contact. The attached unbraided cable is long and flexible enough to be placed next to a laptop with enough clearance for all connections. It is supplied with a grey carry pouch to house the hub along with a separate pocket for the cable which I thought was a nice added touch. For longevity will need to follow up but for now there are two minor gripes: no feet on the bottom so it will be susceptible to scratches and the printed Anker logo on top may wear with time. As for operational prowess, this is to be confirmed once I'm in possession of the laptop for which this was purchased. Based on its build quality however I'm cautiously optimistic. For size comparison see picture of it next to a can of coke and a standard SSD.

Perfect USB C hub for most.
Did a lot of research on USB C hubs and this one stood out. Build quality is great and works fantastic as a hub for my galaxy Tab s7. It connected flawlessly to HDMI out and I now use a second screen so productivity has increased so much that I have packed up the old bulky computer. Ethernet just connects so no awkward set-up needed. Plus using the PD usb port means the Tablet always remains charged. In essence a great product solution to the missing ports that seem to be all the rate now on tablets and laptops.

Does the job with a Chromecast
Primary use is to expand the storage for a Google Chromecast 4K device along with a wired ethernet connection. Does the job well. I like the status lights for power and for ethernet incorporated in to the hub. There is no storage pouch inside the box as some commenters have mentioned. Things to watch out for: 1. In my experience connecting an audio streamer to the usb port of the hub like I did with a Picoreplayer on a Rasberry Pi Zero W even if it is just for power supply will divert audio from the Chromecast device. Nothing wrong with the Anker hub - just the way it is designed. 2. My set up using this Anker hub with the Google Chromecast 4K works best with a Thumb drive type storage rather than my external hard drive; the Chromecast recognises the hard drive but insist it will not read from it unless it is formatted by it and used as the Chromecast's storage exclusively. No thanks. 3. It is best to set up the Chromecast using the Anker hub first then introduce the USB Thumb drive as storage. None of these issues occur when using this hub with my laptop or smartphone. It's a shame there are only two usb3.0 ports on this hub, the additional SD and Micro SD ports are available, but I have not tested these for use with the Chromecast.

Makes great use of a singe USB C port
I use this with a an Apple Laptop M2, it utilises a single USB C port to feed in power to the laptop, output HDMI to a projector and support a couple of USB devices, all without any problems. tried the cheaper 5-1 version but would found the 7-1 much better.

Instancabile dopo anni di servizio
Cinque stelle piene.

it does what it says
I'm working with an M1 Air, another success but a review of that is of course beyond this review. I mention this because it has two thunderbolt 3 ports, and that's it. Essentially, this device enables you to have a mains connection if you need it, and then gives you full functionality of all seven inputs. It's well made, it works, it's inexpensive and unobtrusive.

Initial impressions: fully functional and well-made.
As you can see in the quick video demo, I am using this hub to connect two mission-critical items to my M2 MacBook Air via a single USB-C connection: a 4k monitor, and a Digidesign/Focusrite Control 24 digital mixer (now repurposed as a control surface for Logic Pro with Neyrinck's V-Control software) via an RJ45 Ethernet connection. I have tried less expensive hubs, but they failed to run the 4k monitor and the Control 24 at the same time. This one worked perfectly out of the box. The unit is smaller than I was expecting, but feels hefty and solid. Clutter on my desk has been minimized and it's wonderful to have everything running in a stable manner, all from one USB-C port. M2 Macbook Airs only have two USB-C ports on them, and if I were to run separate adapters for the Ethernet and HDMI connections (which I had been doing) I'm left with no further expansion possibilities. This hub fees up possibilities of further peripherals as needed. So long as the Ethernet port doesn't crap out on me (the most common Achilles's heel to these types of hubs) this looks like a great solution. I have to give this unit five stars for initial quality. If problems arise, I'll modify this review accordingly. Great solution. Highly recommended.
