Solid, affordable extra layer to my home security setup
My house is set up in such a way that all of the windows are easily visible to both of my neighbors and to passers-by on the street, so that anyone who tries breaking into my home when I'm not around will be readily seen. All, that is, except for one particular bedroom window I have near the back of the house, which is blocked from neighbor/street view by a storage shed, and is at ground level (one-story home). I saw this as a glaring weak point in my home's security, and this window guard was EXACTLY what I needed to fix it. I had this thing in place and mounted in less than 10 minutes total. The screws that are included with this are one-way screws of questionable strength and quality, and I didn't want to chance running one halfway in and then having it get stuck or snap off and having no way to back it out, so I used my own. Just stuck the assembly up in place, pre-drilled holes in the window frame, and then ran some heavy-duty 3-inch screws into the studs (Camo brand screws, which are VERY strong and use Torx bit heads). DONE! This guard is VERY secure and will certainly deter most any smash-and-grab punk that tries to target my home for stealing stuff to sell for drug money. No home security is theft-proof, but as of right now, the only way someone is getting into my place easily is if they decide to tunnel underneath and cut a hole in the floor to get inside, or they just use a chainsaw to cut a hole in the back wall. LOL

Great screen protector!
I ordered two of these because my rambunctious dog wants to go through the screen when he sees cats outside!!! so I have two windows protected! They work really well!

Basic and easy to install, plus not ugly!
I bought two of these to place in my Tuff Shed in the backyard. I put them in there because I keep a lot of power tools in there and felt like this would be a nice deterrent to smash-and-grab. They were very easy to install and a great price with an open box deal. Bottom line is that if somebody wants in, they will get in. But at this price and the ease of installation, they add a layer of protection. These would be nice for any window you are looking to prevent easy access too, but I wouldn't put them on a window in a room where the window was the only means of escape.

Anxiety relief = priceless
This thing was a little hard to install, but I blame that more on our weird, annoying window than the product itself. Our 2nd story bedroom has a window that is for some reason very close to the ground. It opens outward on a vertical axis using a hand crank, and has a lock that flips up and down like a light switch. So the challenge was to figure out how to install the guard in such a way that the hand crank and window lock can still operate unimpeded by the guard bars, without leaving a big gap underneath the bars, which would negate the entire purpose. It took a couple tries and the bar spacing made it tricky, but we eventually figured out a setup that, while perhaps not the ideal configuration, is the only one that works for our weird window. And all that really matters is if it does the job of improving safety for our toddler, which it does. As other commenters have suggested, we used our own screws instead of the provided โpermanentโ ones so that it can be uninstalled someday. Itโs still very secure. Overall Iโm happy with this purchase. The peace of mind it brings is well worth any frustration during installation.

Easy to install, really weird screws provided but I just used my own
I installed these on the window frames of his bedroom to keep my toddler grandson from falling out the window- now I can let him play in his room without my having to be in there with him. Easy to install except they provided screws with a weird top that I had never seen before ( not a flathead, nor a Phillips head, something other) so I just used my own screws of the same length. I bought these USED and the came in boxes that were damaged, but everything was inside as it was supposed to be.

Can be almost impossible to expand to proper width.
I ordered 7 window guards and 5 of them were very difficult to expand to the proper width. It took hitting them with a heavy rubber mallet in order to expand them. They were impossible to pull open by hand.

Definitely not falling out this window
We got these for our childs room because it is a very dangerous fall onto concrete if she fell out. And they work great. We have odd sized windows so it doesn't fit length wise but it does fit up and down. And in case of fure their is room to bust the window out and still escape.

Good for price
Bars seem somewhat warped. Not all bars are straight. Good product for the price.
