Nashua – 1087654 ASJ Paper/Tri-Directional Fiberglass/Foil All-Service Insulation Jacketing Tape Duct and Pipe Sealing, 50 yds Length x 72mm Width, White

I installed solid fiberglass pipe wraps on my steam heating system pipes years ago and they are covered with white foil backed paper with fiberglass threads for reinforcement just like this adhesive tape. In those days, the wraps weren't self-adhesive so the tape was needed. I wanted to finish the bits I missed but apparently the pipe wraps have been "improved" to come with adhesive already on the edge of the paper. Hence, the company that makes them doesn't supply this tape so it was hard to find.The tape is still needed to do a tidy job for several reasons. 1) the joins between the pieces of pipe wrap need sealing, to avoid leaks and to provide a smooth look. 2) Any cutaways you need to do for corners and t-joints will need to be taped. 3) Places where the pipe is joined by a connector can't be covered by the solid pipe-wrap, but you can use fiberglass strips and cover it with the tape. This particular tape is a high-quality tape and I am glad I found a supplier at last.

This is a very high quality tape. We have plastic batted sheet insulation in our basement that hangs on the foundation walls. I had to tear some of the tape that attaches the sheets together so they could be removed for a foundation repair, and I wanted to make sure that I taped them back together with the same material. This stuff fit the bill perfectly. While it is a type of specialty tape, if you have the need for something like this, I wouldn't hesitate purchasing this brand.

It did the job thanks

Needed to repair the surface of some 20 yro steam pipe insulation and this did the trick, matching original insulation surface w/ good adhesion. A specialty tape at a reasonable price.
