A Durable, Safe Hitch for Short Bed Trucks
Our Tow Vehicle: 2012 Ram 3500 Mega Cab DRWOur 5th Wheel RV: 2011 Keystone Cougar 293SABHitch Purchased: May 2017Miles towed using hitch: Over 6,000This hitch works very well with our tow vehicle and trailer. All three items (tow vehicle, hitch, and trailer) work like they were specifically designed for each other. The hitch has never failed us, nor has it caused 'clunking' or other undesirable behavior. While it is heavy (about 200 lbs. if I remember correctly), it is also very well-designed, strong, well-built, and durable. We have no regrets purchasing or using the hitch.InstallationThis was easy. As fifth wheel rails were already installed in the bed of the truck, all we (two adults and two young teenagers) had to do was lift the hitch from the shipping pallet, move it into the bed of the truck, position it appropriately over the rails, drop it into place, and install the clevis pins to secure the hitch in place. After the hitch was in place, we verified the tension on the appropriate bolts, as outlined in the owner's manual, and proceeded to install the capture plate on the RV king pin. (The capture plate is sold separately from the hitch.)UsageThe hitch is obviously designed to allow short bed trucks to tow 5th wheel RVs without allowing the front cap of the RV to come into contact with the rearmost portion of the cab of the tow vehicle when making turns. It accomplishes this task with ease and without conscious thought from the driver. We have had the truck and trailer at greater than 90 degrees to one another and have never had to worry about the two coming into contact. The swing capability applies whether one is driving forward or backing up. Plus, it is fully automatic.Therre is enough side-to-side and front-to-back swivel of the hitch plate to allow the truck and trailer to be at different vertical and horizontal angles to each to allow for reasonable movement when traversing over rough terrain (speed bumps, unpaved roads, gravel, dirt, sandy soils, rocks, etc.). Can one go rock-crawling? No, of course not. However, one is not limited to only paved roads when using this hitch.MaintenanceMake sure to wipe the rails on top and on the inside as directed by the owner's manual, before each day's towing. There are also lubrication points on the hitch plate, which are described and identified in the owner's manual. Annual maintenance is primarily limited to greasing the hitch plate bolt. Again, this is described in the owner's manual. About twice a year, we clean/wipe down the entire hitch with WD-40.StorageAs we almost exclusively use our tow vehicle to tow the RV, we keep the SuperGlide stored in the bed of the truck. We also have a tonneau cover installed over the bed of the truck, so the hitch is protected from the sun, rain, debris, and dirt when not in use. Yes, dirt and dust still make their way to the hitch, but we clean the hitch whenever it becomes noticeable.Note: In order to ensure the hitch handle doesn't hit the bottom of the tonneau cover, keep the hitch in the 'unlocked' position when not using the hitch. This lowers the hitch handle enough to ensure it clears the cover, when the cover is closed. As a bonus, since the tow vehicle has leaf springs, the ride can be harsh when the bed of the truck is empty or lightly loaded. Keeping the two-hundred-pound hitch in the bed helps to smooth out the ride.ConsYes, the hitch is very heavy, there can be no doubt about that. Also, it does take up quite a bit of space in the bed of the truck. However, we can store a footlocker and four fuel cans (five-gallon, military-style) across the front of the bed of the truck, without interfering with the operation of the hitch. One can also store low-profile items between the hitch and the tailgate, but one must account for the movement of the hitch, during travel, when placing items there.Note: Due to the weight of the hitch, we deducted one star from 'Ease of installation' and 'Ease of removal.' This hitch requires two or more people for installation and removal.ConclusionAll-in-all, this is a great hitch, and we would recommend it to anyone with a shorted truck, and tows a 5th wheel, to seriously consider purchasing and using one.

Easy install
Fit perfectly into existing rails, don’t forget to buy action plate for camper for it will not work properly.

Easy to Use & a Safer Tow
This hitch has made towing our 5th wheel a lot easier and safer. We had a manual slider hitch which meant that you had to exit the vehicle if you needed to make a tight turn and then exit again once you made the turn to put the hitch back into position. This hitch is automatic and places itself into the correct position as you make the turn which is safer and easier. This hitch has allowed for some very sharp turns and works great if you have a short bed pickup truck. We installed and are using this hitch in a 2019 Ram 2500 with the 6'5'' bed. I would highly recommend a automatic slider hitch with short beds and this hitch fits the bill perfectly. The only trick is backing up because it takes some getting used to it. I cannot recommend this hitch enough. Save yourself some headaches, money and drama. PullRite makes multiple hitches to meet your towing needs at most towing weight limits and they are tough, durable and made to last. I wish I had bought one of their hitches instead of a manual one. Now that I have one, it is sooo much easier to hook up and tow. Safe travels.

Could be a 5...
Hitch seems to work fine. Love the automatic front to rear movement. Specified bed rail assembly located the hitch 3/4” behind axle centerline when in the forward-most position. Had to modify hitch brackets to mount in a safe location.

Great hitch
Great to pull trailer and not worry about putting trailer into back of cab of truck! Only negative is hard to get in and out of truck due to weight.

#1 Hitch by far
This is the 5th wheel hitch to have. So impressed with everything about it. Super easy to hitch up and unhitch. Even my wife feels comfortable to hitch the trailer up.
