I had bought one of the those "fully adjustable" snap ring pliers from home depot and they just didn't cut it. Too floppy to get a feel for when you have the ring and too fat to fit where they are needed. These pliers from Knipex are the right tool for the job. They are rigid, tight and precise - so you can feel what you are doing. Also, the pins on the ends are splayed out which keeps the ring captive when you are removing it. A joy to use.

High price for high quality. These are great for precise jobs like taking old O-rings off and getting those pesky objects out of tight spaces.

Got this for replacing the A/C compressor clutch of my 2011 Honda CR-V. This is the exact tool I needed. Great quality.

These tools are the bomb!

Some tools you can buy cheap ones and get by just fine. HF has been producing them for decades. When you're working with circlips the most expensive pliers will always be the cheap ones you buy to try and save a buck. You'll just add the cost of them to the price of the good circlip pliers you'll end up buying anyway. Cheap circlip pliers are damn near IMPOSSIBLE to work with, they will NEVER save you enough money to make up for the time and frustration you will waste on them. Just bite the bullet and buy a good pair of circlip pliers and never have to buy another pair again. Even if you have to build up a set a pair at a time it will pay off each and every time you reach out to use them. There are other people making good circlip pliers but when it comes to the best Knipex has them all beat. The tips are perfect, set at an angle so the circlips will NOT slip off, if you've worked with circlips you know exactly what I'm talking about. Once you get your hands on a Knipex you'll chuck all your cheap ones in the trash. If you give them away I can only assume you are a sadist.

I used this tool to replace AC clutch on Honda Civic 2007 LX. This tool helped me to take the horseshoe-shape gasket out of the AC clutch. It was well fit to make the job easier and saved me hours of work. It was versatile for multiple vehicles. It is durable, not easy to snap, a bit pricey but worth it.
