Works great for my washer
I ordered these like three times and I always keep a spare for back up. We have well water and we had to use this with our system in order to keep the debris and dirt out and keep it from clogging in the hose. Definitely recommend if it will work with your system. Itโs as described inexpensive and delivery was expedited.

Works well - great service when I had an issue
I purchased the filter and replacement elements. The original filter leaked at the seam. Contacted Inline through the website and received an immediate response. They sent a new filter and that one worked fine. The first one was missing an o-ring. I have this connected to a washing machine and it works well and should keep sediment from going through the cold water valve and damaging it.

A great device
This device is very well engineered. Once in place, it is quite robust. Some fault the plastic (nylon) threads. As is always the case with such threads, you must take great care that you have not cross threaded the connection, but once a good connection is made, it is quite substantial The cartridge of this filter filter features a fine screen filter which by itself will probably satisfy my needs plus another filter consisting of a half dozen or so layers of cloth filters. What I needed was a filter that would catch particles coming through and stopping up the screen filters in my washing machine. The screen filter in this cartridge is probably fine enough for that. In my well system there is apparently some very fine material coming through that stops up the cloth filter within 2 or 3 weeks. For me that super fine filtration is not necessary, but I can see that it might be needed in other situations. To this point, when the cloth filter stops up, I remove the screen filter, use a dentists tooth scraper tool to remove the cloth filter, remove the one or two stopped up layers of cloth and replace the remaining layers and screen and put it back on the machine. I would have given this a five-stare rating were it not for its ridiculously high price of the replacement filter. Other that that one caveat, I give my highest recommendation for this device.. Update 7/20/14. The cloth filters in this device were clogging too frequently so I removed them, relying solely on the fine screen type filter mentioned earlier. That was 2 or 3 months ago and all seems to be going well with this arrangement.

Great idea, but needs to be metal
We have very hard water, and upon purchasing a new steam washer and dryer, I wanted to install an inline filter to protect them from the sediment. I looked at larger more elaborate and expensive alternatives, then chose to go this route. They worked fine for a month, then one of them blew apart, flooding the garage. After looking at the unit, there was no evidence why it blew apart. Since the one that blew apart was the one on the hot water, maybe the plastic can't take the heat, and caused to to fatigue. I don't know, but I can't chance that again, so I removed them and tossed them. I like the design and the simplicity, but to prevent that again, they really need to be metal. Thank goodness my washer and dryer are in the garage, and not indoors. I would have had lots of damage.

Good.
We have grey slate shale from our well. This is easier to change than the screen on the clothes washer. The washing machine mfg. can void the warranty without it, I was told by a service man, I do have a whole house filter also which I'm changing monthly. The builder lost the filter I had with the filter reservoir, and turned on supplt to my new house without it, I've had to clean all faucet screens after I put in the filter. I haven't had to replace the filter in this small filter for over a year.

May be saving my washer.
I live in a really old house that doesn't have any filtration. I had to clean out the back of my washer regularly every time it rained because mud would come through and it would beep until I cleaned it. I just paid my washer off a little over a year ago and was really worried it would crap out because of the mud that would cycle through. Now when I put detergent in the little drawer thing I pull out, it doesn't have mud residue in it. So, far so good. I think I've been using it for 3 months now. And it is doing the job.

works great
You can take the poly fabric filter out of the plastic filter housing and rinse it out and reuse it MANY times! As to those who have had problems with the plastic threaded housing cracking, be sure not to over tighten the threads, it is plastic after all. Just finger tight does it, also do this major trick: add a quick release hose coupling to the incoming water spigot so you don't have to struggle reaching around the washer to get the filter housing apart when needed. Just uncouple it and pull the hose over to where you can reach it, then unscrew it and deal with the filter. Works so well on my massive sediment problem that I have to take it apart and rinse out the poly filter every third or fourth time I use the washer. Yeah it's a pain but it's keeping the junk out of the washer.

What I needed & Good Quality
Ive purchased this twice. The first time the filter leaked at the seam but I got into contact and inline responded immediately. Its been connected, easy to install. Works great at keeping the sediment from going through and damaging.

Expensive for what it does
Filter plugged up in 1 day. Not recommended, as much too expensive and unserviceable. Better to get a bigger filter that plumbs into the main water line to the house.
