Tarot of the New Vision

I learned mostly on the RWS and though I own about fifteen decks I've been very picky which ones I read with--I do about 80% of readings with RWS and my other decks receive only occasional use. I bought this one a while ago because I liked the art and the concept, and I've come to trust Lo Scarabeo, but I hadn't really used it because I hadn't met a reading or a querent that I thought needed it and I was hesitant to start using a new deck I didn't really understand--however, about two weeks ago I brought it out just to look through, and not ten minutes later two friends came over asking if I could read their cards. I started to get out my RWS and then thought better of it. I've been reading since I was in middle school (about 9 years) and consider myself a good tarot reader though by no means an expert, but I still find myself turning to books and other sources for additional details on some cards in about 25% of my readings. However, in the dozen or so readings I have done with this deck, I have not once felt that the answers I was looking for were anywhere but in the cards and in the people at the table. This deck comes very naturally to me, in part because of its play off of the RWS which gives it a backstory you already know plus the additional information, the "new vision" that is apparent in this artwork; partially because the finely detailed artwork leaves no question of "what might that be, there?" or "what is this character doing?" and instills a sense of trust of the deck in me; and partially for reasons to which I am not privy. I can't tell you you should buy this deck, because maybe it won't be right for you, but I can tell you it is right for me, and GOSH is it right for me.

Note that this deck only includes the Lo Scarabeo Little White Book, which gives you very little information. If you want to dig into the imagery, I'd recommend you find a full kit that includes the big guidebook instead of just buying the deck like I did. This deck could be ok for a beginner, but I think that an experienced tarotist, especially one who has worked extensively with the RWS deck, will find this deck the most useful. The alternative perspective is interesting. Some cards don't really change much, others add a little hint or extra oomph to the traditional message while still others I think were drawn with the intent of portraying the "reversed" meaning of the card. I've been studying tarot for years now, but there were a fair number of cards that had me scratching my head. There are images added to some of them that just made me wonder what the artists were thinking or what mythology they are referencing. This isn't a problem, but it is a little confusing. I tried to track down a guidebook to explain the additional imagery and the artist's intent, but the guidebooks for this deck appear to be prohibitively expensive for some reason, which is why I'd recommend a kit.

I got this deck a while ago and have been using it more and more. It is now one of my favorite decks. The art work is magnificent. The quality of the cards is superb. The images are based in the Waite-Smith tradition but have nods to the 18th century meanings of Etteilla, which predated Waite by more than a century. The new images enhanced the Colman Smith drawings and added depth to the symbolism. Turning the figures around engages the imagination and stimulates one's intuition. This may not be the best place to start for beginners, but users who are familiar with the Waite-Smith deck will find this one easy to use. Highly recommended.

Amazing deck. I use it to compare to my Rider Waite and my Universal Gold decks. I enjoy looking at the traditional art and comparing it to this deck. The Major Arcana show the greatest differences, and the deck adds great meaning and significance to the already meaningful artwork. The minor suites fall a little short, but are definitely still awesome and very informative. Would buy again, already recommend to everyone!!!

The cards were in excellent condition, but I thought it was like the Vice - Versa deck turn out it is not it is one side is the pictures and the other side is not illustrated with the picture the opposite of the front. They are very different than the Vice- Versa deck but very interesting. If you just want a novelty deck then these are the cards for you

First I have been reading for over 30 years and early on developed my own style. I have studied imagry and symbology and the history of Tarot. Openness and flexibility in the reader is Paramount. That is why I find some reviews missing the point of this deck. It is Not a great deck for a newcomer, unless you "get it" if you are someone who can read and or scry in a cloud a fire tea leaves, than this deck is just fine to start with. If you need a border understanding of what you are doing the original version is much better. "The New Vision" deck may well be better called "The New Perspective" deck. It as ALL decks are just tools to open up to possability and probability and creativity from within ourselves. It is far to easy to get Locked in on an image and say "this means that". New art, new interpretations, all help make reading a more fluid free form natural experience.

I like how they took the concept art from the classic Rider Waite deck instead of looking from the front we take look behind tbem or the side view of it too. Very cool deck I used it in my tarot reading videos.

Fantastic deck. This deck allows me to finally read the energy of others and not just my energy. It's been 3 years and I can finally read others now! The funny thing is, the cards "face" who is being read now. To those complaints about the drawings limiting interpretation: you must be familiar with the original meanings of the cards, to interpret these as well, and not go by the visuals alone. This deck likes to hop cards into my chest for reading, and I have to shuffle them a specific way, and I respect the rules given for reading reversals, as in the booklet. It's a unique deck that really speaks to me thoroughly. I am super pleased!

A must for any tarot reader wanting to deepen their understanding of the cards .. from a previously unseen perception.. art work is great .. big thumbs up 👍
