Dorman Help! 41068 Spare Tire Hold Down ( universal fit)

The product does not work as is too long. It seems to have been opened before by someone else before sent to me because it was stapled all around to hold the package at the edge. I will need to return it. The picture depicts what I received.

I used this to hold the spare tire under my Jet Ski trailer. I did add a stainless steel tube spacer since the threads don't go all the way up through the bar. Longer lead time to get this holder delivered. Not available in stores. Worth the wait!

Item was longer than needed but cut it to fit. Perfect.

I bought this to use with 2013 Prius V , but the bolt is too long and the thread does not fit . I ended up using different bolt to secure with the metal plate and nut that came with this kit.

For years we have apparently been driving without the spare tire rod in place (huge safety issue). I didn't notice this till I went to install a spare tire subwoofer from JBL (which fits OK, sticks up a little but no biggie). The stock rod was not long enough so I had to find a longer J hook like this. This was PLENTY long to fit both the tire and subwoofer and I had about 3 inches left over (that's what she said). Build quality seemed much more robust than stock with the fully metal retaining nut. I highly recommend picking one up. Imagine the unretained spare flying forward without this in an accident. Very grateful for this product. Especially in a hatchback your safety is worth $6.Fits 1988 Mustang 5.0 just cut to length with a Dremel.

I bought this to secure a spare tire to my boat trailer. Worked really well. I do wish that the retaining plate was a little larger, but it does work fine as long as you are careful when installing and tightening it.

Bought for a 99 jeep cherokee. My father had lost the spare tire holding screw on retaining pieces so my spare just sat in the back. Was able to use this to get my spare up and out of the way.

This kit made it possible to mount a spare tire in my Chev Volt. The car does not come with a spare tire, but has an allowed threaded socket for a mounting rod, and provided the safety storage of the purchased spare tire and wheel.

Worked great, exactly as expected.In my case, I needed to cut to length, and add threads to the shaft.
