Still as good as ever and excellent value for money.
The last time I used a Hama card reader was back in 2011 before I built a new computer and installed a 3.5" permanent multi-card reader to replace the Hama for my Compact Flash and SD cards which were the media for my cameras.Over time I have replaced three of the installed readers on the earlier and my very recent computer new build due to the pins being too close to the slot entrance on the Compact Flash reader part which allows the card to enter at a slight angle even after taking great care which resulted in the pins getting bent so a couple of days ago after yet another bent pin issue I ordered a good old Hama reader which is identical to the one I used all those years ago and it was like going back in time but to a much happier time. There was no worry about bending the pins like on the built in card reader as the CF card simply slotted into the Hama just in the same manner as it does in my cameras and it's worth noting that those have never ever had bent pins and it worked the instant I plugged it into the USB port. The computer running Windows 10 recognised it immediately with no issues whatsoever and after loading Photoshop I was editing the files within seconds.I have to say that having tried other portable card readers in the past, the Hama reader was the reader of choice for me personally until I installed a permanent reader into the computer, so the other day whilst looking for a portable reader, when I found that Hama readers were still available it was a no-brainer not to get another. They are absolutely brilliant and the eerie things is that they are still about the same price as they were 10 years ago.In the feedback I noticed someone had claimed that they had followed the instructions and it had wiped their files. Well what instructions does one need?Simply plug it in with the USB lead (supplied with the reader), put the card in that you want it to read and then look for the files in the OS file explorer.I've downloaded tens of thousands of images in the past with the good old Hama card reader and never once lost a file and many of the files were of weddings so I'd treat that claim with caution as it's more likely to be user-error.The bottom line is that I'm more than happy with the Hama card reader. It's a brand I knew and trusted in the past and the reason why I chose to buy it again.

More card tricks than Paul Daniels
I think the previous reviews speak for themselves - this is an excellent card reader both for the price (still £3.99 at time of writing) and for its capabilities. Measuring about the size of a pack of cards, it has 4 slots in the front into which cards and microdrives are placed. As with a lot of electronics these days, it's made of a fairly cheap plastic but for less than a fiver that's easily forgivable. The reader doesn't come with any drivers but it does work under Vista (as you'd expect) and connects using an included short USB cable. Read and write speeds seem pretty impressive although I am yet to transfer anything of any real size so copying a 4GB file might be the real proof of the pudding. Cards push into the front and are simply pulled out to remove them - it would have been nice to have spring-loaded slots but that might have been a problem to implement given the sheer number of cards the reader can handle. Some of the slots accommodate cards of fairly different sizes so it's not entirely clear at first as to where in each slot some of the cards should be inserted, but this really is just finding fault in an otherwise great value product.Visit Hama.co.uk for a full list of the cards it can take and whether each one can be plugged without the use of an adaptor. I would detail them all here but it is quite a long list. Suffice to say, the usual suspects are all catered for (SD, mini-SD MicroSD, around 10 kinds of Memory Stick, xD) as well as a bucketful I've never heard of. If your card isn't listed, my advice would be to take a chance and buy one as I'm yet to find a card it doesn't like.

Good Value
I bought this card reader because I have 3 different camera memory cards. Well built and easy to use. I can't work out how it's a 35 in 1 with only four card slots though!

Superb
I also have the previous version of this reader bought from Amazon way back in 2003 ( Hama 6 in 1 USB Memory Card Reader ), it was incredibly cheap at the time and has served me extremely well over the past 6 years. I've updated to this new reader simply for the SDHC capability and I'm very pleased to report it shares a lot in common with its predecessor, not only in colour and excellent value for money. This reader is compatible with a mulitude of formats and presents your computer with 4 mass storage compatible devices, one for each card slot. It's USB 2 so with my Sandisk Extreme III SDHCs transfer speeds are a very handy 20MB/s as promised, although the reader itself advertises higher speeds (I can't test that though as my cards are rated lower than the reader). This reader simply appears to be too good to be true at the prices you can pick it up from on Amazon. I can vouch for the fact it's good, and it is true. Superb value for money so buy this one if you want a modern SDHC ready multi-reader!

Disingenuous
I can't deny that this works for Compact Flash and SD cards which is fine, but to read some card types, you need adapters which AREN'T included. To claim that you can read 35 types of card may be accurate but when you not include the adapters it's disingenuous at best and misleading at the worst. One reviewer suggests you go to the Hama site for info on where to plug the various cards in, I can't find any such documentation... but that may just be me.
