At first, when I opened the box, I thought that the holes were too small for my huge Syrian hamster so I left out the middle tube. After watching her explore, she went though the same size holes with no problem at all. My only thing is that the wood seemed to be splintered in some places but I sanded them down to make it safer. All in all, its very cute and fun for my Syrian who is about 4 to 5 inches long and 2 1/2. Incheds wide (fluffy)

My mice got a few months of use out of these wooden huts which at the time seemed great. A few weeks ago, I noticed blood spattered on the sides of the aquarium, and not a small amount. I checked my mice over and found no obvious injuries, so chalked it up to a freak scuffle, though my mice generally get along really well. A week after that, once the tank had been washed out, I saw more blood spatter and trailing on the 2-story wooden hut.On closer examination, I saw that my mice had chewed through the wood to expose 2 sharp metal nails at one corner, and 1 on the roof. I gave them an other exam and did not find scabs or obvious injury (I also work from home and am within earshot of them at all times, and did not hear any fighting or squealing), so I deduced that they were injuring their mouths by gnawing on or near the sharp nails. Even on the off chance that the blood spatter was not caused by these nails, it's reasonable to say that it would only be a matter of time before they do injure themselves and NO small pet product should be made with nails, period! Mice are mice and they're gonna chew. They shouldn't have to encounter a hazard when they do their natural behavior.I threw out all components of this set and urge small pet owners to avoid purchasing. There was a little wooden castle similar to this set that I purchased which is held together with non-toxic glue and wood joints, no metal products. Give that one a go!

This is perfect for my dwarf hamster! She tires herself out running all over it each evening. She doesn't like the tube that connects the two houses very much, so I just removed it.

I bought this for my two gerbils and they love it! It fits their 20 gallon tank perfectly but it takes up all the space so getting a cage topper is necessary to fit other gerbil essentials. Highly recommended!

Arrived well-packaged with the pieces detached and wrapped up tightly. The little bridges have pegs that lined up and fit in snugly to the houses, and my gerbils went crazy for it as soon as I placed it in their cage! I had to remove some aspen bedding since they turned out to be allergic to it, and I used my bare hands to wipe the aspen shavings off of this housing system, and I am pleased to say that I didn't get any splinters. My gerbils like to sleep in the tunnel that connects the two houses, and chew on it (the house will definitely last awhile since they can't demolish it like they do hay or grass toys). My most adventurous gerbil, Belle, likes to dig an exit tunnel from the back of the houses. So pleased with this product; I found similar items to this one under the brand name Trixie that are made of natural wood and am tempted to purchase more!

Cons: This is assemble using 1.25 inch thin, sharp, brad type nails. I found one that missed it mark and was poking inside the larger house about .75 inch. I repaired it, but your pet could get hurt, so inspect before use. My Dwarf Hamster is not much of a chewer so this should be ok. If you have a chewer, then watch out for all the nails. The smaller house had a 3 inch crack in the back, but does not seem to take-away any strength. The hollow log in the middle has a crack that runs the entire length but seems strong.The entire setup was wrapped tightly in a single thick clear bag, nothing individually wrapped. Then placed in an Amazon box slightly larger than item without any padding, so it was bouncing in box, but shipping does not seem to be the cause.Pros: My Dwarf Hamster loves this! Hangs out in it a lot. He has a large 32"L x 22"W x 15"H cage so this large house works well.If my hamster did not like it so much, it would have got 3 stars and/or possible return for refund.

Just recently bought this product. I’ve bought this product like 3 times now(had to replace once the gerbils did their damage). I absolutely loved this product until now. After cleaning my gerbils cage, I shook this piece and a bug came out. Threw it in the trash and continued cleaning. Well I got this uneasy feeling. So I took my knife and started basically pealing all that crappy bark off. Well I find this. Once I put my knife threw this part. It was like confetti of saw dust powdered. I’m completely horrified. Now I got to figure out what exactly that bug was and how much it can infest and how fast. I absolutely feel terrible cause my gerbils had that in their cage for a little over a week. This product might cost me more than I would ever pay. So I definitely won’t be buying from this company again. I dont want to take my chances on winning the lottery again. I had to throw every piece of wood out that was in my gerbils cage.

This terrible house KILLED OUR PET MOUSE. Before buying this, I skimmed the reviews and thought they were overall okay. I know wish I had of payed closer attention as other reviewers noticed nails sticking out as well. The product was late arriving and my daughter (who is 9) put it in the tank. My husband and I both inspected the product briefly before giving it to her. The next day, we noticed a large gash down our mouse's back. We took him to the vet right away and he was prescribed an antibiotic. Unfortunately, the cut became infected and he passed away. We were baffled as to what could have done this. We inspected everything in the cage and finally found a small but very sharp nail on the inside of this house. There was even a small bit of fur on the nail. We are absolutely devastated.I emailed the seller and their response was that I could pay for return shipping and they MIGHT refund my money. No apology, no offer to pay for a new pet: nothing. I have been an Amazon Prime member for years now and have ordered hundreds of items. I have NEVER been treated this way by a seller.Please please, do not buy this product. I know it looks amazing but it isn't worth the life of your pet.

Love this product. My big Serian hamster loves it too. She fits in all houses and log tunnel no problem.
