Delightfully simple and perfectly functional, the yarn bowl feeds your yarn through the curved opening, allowing it to unravel in place as you continue knitting away. Sculpted from stoneware on the pottery wheel by North Carolina artisans, the yarn bowl is glazed in their hand-mixed teal color and kiln-fired for lasting durability.

because I like giving balanced reviews
This is, by far, an extremely satisfying purchase.I sat here and tried to come up with something negative to say, because I like giving balanced reviews. The only thing that I could think of is that it's slightly smaller than I was hoping, but by far large enough to handle any standard-sized skeins (which have been, obviously, unraveled and then rolled into balls; a floppy oblong skein of run-of-the-mill soft yarn would work, but it would flop over the edge). This isn't made for over-sized skeins of crochet thread, it's made for a ball of yarn.Since I'm a secret fan of earthy ceramics, I was expecting the color variation (mine is more of a teal or aquamarine in places, and a deep cobalt in others, with thin bits of naked-but-glazed clay here and there along with a few areas where the color bubbled), and to be honest it's more aesthetically pretty in person than I thought it would be. There aren't any rough edges on the curlicue bit where the yarn feeds through, either. It's all-around a great bowl and receiving a lot of use. We have cats and were worried that one of these two would see it broken within a week, but we've had it for almost five months now and have had no incidents, even when one of them has walked off with the end of the yarn and carried it throughout the house (leaving the yarn ball still inside the bowl on the counter).

Arrived broken, but salvaged
This item arrived broken. For future reference, one thin layer of bubble wrap is not enough. I fixed it with gorilla glue and it is a beautiful piece, so no negative review. But please pack better next time.

High quality, sturdy craftsmanship
I'm not a pottery expert, but I can't find any flaws with my bowl. The color is a pretty lavender with a flavor of the natural color of the clay and specks of I don't know what? Something brown and lovely. Some of the reviews I read said the feed for the yarn wasn't smooth, and while there are occasionally tiny bumps along the edge, they are not in a position to catch the yarn, and ones that might have have been sanded down.It is quite a bit larger than I was expecting - it won't hold the cheap big buy-it-at-joanns acrylic stuff of course, but I haven't found anything else too big to fit in it yet.It is a beautiful addition to my general decor, as well as delightfully functional since I'm not diving face first out of my chair after a ball of yarn every few minutes. I'm going to have to buy several more for the projects that need say three or four yarns at once. :)

Nice weight, but fragile
I bought this for my wife a few years back. I will say, it has a good weight balance to it so it stays put when using, how ever the lip for the yarn is a little fragile. It broke in the first month of having it. none the less super glue fixed it. it has broke off a few time over the last few years and has to be glued back on. Over all it is holding up, however if I ever buy her another one I think I will go with a wooden one.

Handsome knitting accessory!
This is a lovely piece of functional pottery. I've always wanted a yarn bowl so my husband kindly ordered this for me. It does exactly what it should... It keeps me from chasing after my yarn ball and keeps the yarn neat. I ran my finger over the section that feeds the yarn since others had said it was rough. Mine was perfectly smooth and the yarn feeds through with no resistance. It looks great on the end table. I love that it's handmade in the USA. It shipped quickly and was packaged very carefully.

but the piece I received seems to be pretty smooth so I'm happy with that
I bought this for my mom as a Mother's Day gift. She does a bit of crochet on her downtime. My concern was the cut-out being too rough on the yarn when you pull it through, but the piece I received seems to be pretty smooth so I'm happy with that. Its a lovely bowl, the color is beautiful and I don't see any major flaws in the craftsmanship. It is supposed to look kind of distressed and rustic. Makes a great gift!

Nice smaller bowl.
Great yarn bowl. Fits a ball of small-medium sized stein yarn. Its small enough to fit into my project travel bag. It's not big enough to fit a stein without balling though.

Love My Yarn Bowl
The bowl is well made and beautiful and you could use as a decorative bowl. Unlike another review, the J cut is finished and my yarn comes through very nicely. I would recommend this bowl as a gift or for yourself. Very nice, well packed, well priced and shipped quickly and shipping was free! Big enough to hold a fairly large size bowl.
