Is there any way to power this microphone without a battery?

unfortunately it requires a 9 Volt battery It does work well and the battery will last 8 hrs plusPhantom power will not power this mic It is a very good value fro what it isWe own 6 units

Is the on/off switch latching (like a light switch) or momentary (push-to-talk)?

Its a locking switch. The mic and materials are well done.However, sometimes the switch can go bad. I have one that i'll have to return because of defective switch. Sound quality and weight of stand are top notch, but it's all only as good as the weakest part. I have three but will have to exchange 1. For the price, its a great buy.

is this a mono or stereo microphone?

Hi .. this is a mono mic. made for desk or podium use in front of a speaker. It is a pro output XLR connector so will need a low (mic level) input or mixer to work. For the price can't be beat. We use their system of, I think 8 mics for roundtable conferences. They work great.

What do I need in between microphone and speaker? What device?

You will need an amplifier to run the microphone into and the speakers out of. It is a good unit not requiring an expensive amp.
