Great fire starters
Great little fire starters that you can light with a ferro rod or a lighter. They basically do the same thing as homemade options, but these are nice and compact and loaded with plenty of wax for a good burn time.Update 07/2017: I still love these fire starters. I used one this past week to get a campfire going with no trouble. Fluffed up one end, hit it with sparks from my ferro rod, and it started burning. Within 5 minutes I had a good fire going. I also use the Pocket Bellows to help get the fire going and keep it going when it dies down. Both are a staple in my fire starting kit. Getting ready to order more to have on hand.

do not buy
I bought this fuse to use for a model rocket. This "fuse" burns like a candle wick, slow and big flame. Not sure how they can say this is fuse. I was thinking the look of a firecracker fuse, NOPE! this is like lighting a candle. DO NOT BUY

Longest Burning, Most Compact Tinder. No Nasty Chemical Smell.
Effective and compact. I carry this and magnesium which I scrape with a carbide ferro striker/sharpener which is also good for deburring blades or a zircon ceramic bead that can shatter side and rear auto glass in a pinch. These are compact cotton tinder impregnated with olive oil and beeswax. I prefer to carry separate zigzag medical cotton and a tiny tube of petrolatum (designed for lip treatment) because they are far less messy and multi-use than pre-mixing, but these are great for very small form factor survival/self-recovery kits. Fluff them up to catch a spark or leave tied for longer burn.

Does the job.
Nice that they stay lit long enough to get a wood fire going in my bush box. I don't rely on this exclusively, but it's handy to have in my backpack.

Buyer Beware
Just like the fellow before me, I also fell for a little of false advertising. Just a heads up before you purchase. I received the eight long and thin wicks and not the 20 thicker ones I was expecting. Will I be keeping them? Hell yeah! It is still a good product but I'll just have to cut these into thirds. However there appears to be some contradictory information in name/photo/item description/asked questions. In all good consciousness I cannot give the PRODUCT a poor review, just two stars removed for deceptive advertising.

very nice
I was very impressed with these, getting a fire started using these would be super easy (depending on your ignition source). i didn't try using a striker style fire starter, i did use UCO "strike anywhere matches" (not promoting them it's just what i had on hand) it lit rater quickly, like a candle. i held it between my fingers and let it burn till it started to get close to my fingers, then i dropped it in some water i had off to the side. left it in the water for at least 30 minutes pulled it out and tried to lite the other side that had not burn yet, it took a little bit more but it did lite and burned.

Best product of it's kind and proudly made in the U.S.A!
These are one of the few fire starters that claim to be waterproof and actually take spark from a ferro rod after being immersed in water. Don't cut or pry it open before immersion, keep it intact until ready to use. Fluff out the end as instructed and a strike from your ferro rod make a very quick fire. You can loosen it up for a faster, hotter fire or leave it as it for a longer slower burn time. I love em. I bought these simply to review, but will have to get more for my kit. Very nice.
