A new MP Brush! (Retired my previous one after 30+yrs service)
After using my Mason-Pearson Detangler brush, purchased for me by my parents 30+ years ago, the pad finally began to lose a few bristles, and to show other signs of wear, necessitating the need for a replacement. So I recently purchased this dark ruby Universal model. This Universal is only my 3rd MP brush, including the Pocket Nylon brush I own, also purchased decades ago— a testament to the quality of M-P’s fine hair care products. The Universal (“medium” sized) has 7 rows of bristles, the Detangler (“handy” sized), has 6 rows. Both brushes have identical bristles, but the Universal is a larger brush.Need help deciding? If you have smaller hands, or intend to use this predominantly for styling, consider the “handy” size Detangler instead. Both are full-sized, adult brushes. The Pocket-sized brush (5 rows of bristles), while intended as a travel/purse brush, can also be used as an everyday/primary brush for children. The pad is only slightly smaller than the other two, but the handle length is considerably shorter.I have provided two photos for visual reference both of the 3 brush-types/sizes mentioned here (plus the Cleaner), and their accompanying boxes. While I am blonde, I have a healthy headful of very thick, moderately coarse, slightly wavy hair. I adore M-P’s largest, traditional brushes with boar bristles (so luxurious and absolutely gorgeous displayed on one’s dressing table!), but due to the thickness of my hair, I have always used the nylon-bristled models as my everyday/primary brushes (on dry hair) because they're the only bristles that penetrate to my scalp. While the nylon bristles are firm, they do flex, and are so well-polished, they’ve never scratched my scalp. They literally glide through my hair. They’re also useful for brushing-out hairspray and dry shampoo. Additionally, I use my M-P’s for styling such as back-brushing (volume & height can be achieved in seconds). With proper care these brushes will last decades. Included are glossy, full-color leaflets with care directions such as using the included Cleaner brush, as well as some historical information on the company. These cult-classic brushes are truly the best investment one can make for a lifetime of beautiful hair.Very highly recommended!Thank you for reading,-CC, Amazon Prime Member-Reviewer

Amazing. Should’ve purchased one sooner.
I have wavy hair with some coils; it is not coarse but fine / dense. I have A LOT of hair that I keep between 2-3ft long. I wish I would’ve purchased this brush sooner. The brush is strong, painless to brush with, and has made my hair softer / smoother. It was worth the price as it replaces the many other brushes I’d been using for upkeep + will outlast those other brushes. I’ll be purchasing the pocket sized one for my purse + hoping that Mason Pearson will make a larger size of this nylon brush (the largest size for this one is their ‘medium’ ATM).

Feels so soothing on my scalp!
For reference, I have EXTREMELY thick, wavy, and long hair that has always been the bane of my existence because it's so hard to manage. I wasn't sure this brush would even be able to get through my hair, but it does just fine. I also don't know what magical powers it has, but it is a great detangler and hardly pulls at all. Does it work miracles on my hair and turn it into a sleek mane? No. But it is still the best brush I have ever used. Whether it is worth $140, only time will tell. (Other brands of brushes always seem to start losing their bristles on me.)

Four Stars
Overall a great brush, but would not recommend for long, thick hair.

Best hair brush for long hair
I have used these brushes for over 60 years and when my granddaughter wanted one but was put off by the price I just had to get her one. It makes hair shine and gets out tangles. It is worth the price as they never seem to wear out

A really nice brush
Have dealt with seborrheic dermatitis my whole life - wish I found this brush sooner. It really exfoliates my scalp way better than a cheap Conair brush from the drugstore (with the plastic balls on end of the bristles) . I look forward to brushing my hair with it each night because it really calms down my scalp and feels great. Expensive but worth it .
