Electronic Specialties 180 Dynamic Test Lead, Red,Black

First I discovered this tool accidentally. I read Mr. Sullivan's book a few years back on circuit testing and trouble shooting first and had a good grasp on the concepts before I bought the other tool that has the name power in it. Very good tool. But when you understand truly what voltage drop does for you, and what ghost voltage vs no voltage means, you can zip through circuit testing. Some argue it does not add enough load for every circuit...But only a few of the largest cables carrying the most current will theoretically require more load than these leads can provide. There is a lot of strange hate of this product...it is really unlike anything I am familiar with. They are just multimeter leads with an added feature, no need to get dramatic.

A must have for diagnosing electrical issues! Puts a .5A load on the circuit when the button is pressed so you can see if the circuit has high resistance and drops voltage when under load like when they are badly corroded or you have a bad spot in a wire. When that happens it shows 12v until a load is introduced and then it will drop way down under 10v etc.

This was recommended to me by a colleague. It works well. Diagnosed a bad wire in less than 15 minutes from being given the job. The voltage drop test is one of the more important ones. This tool makes it effortless

Quick easy way to diagnose electrical problems.

Have used these leads a couple times and they work good. Not impressed with the quality of the alligator clips though, the leads have a threaded portion on them for the clips to screw onto, but the clips themselves are not threaded, they are just crimped for a friction fit and they don't hold in place very well after one or 2 uses.

I bought this after getting burned a couple times with wires that would read the correct voltage on a multimeter but when a load was applied the circuit couldn’t handle it. I haven’t got to use it yet and I hope I never have to.Main reason I bought this was it is relatively compact and can keep it in my work backpack. Didn’t want something that I had to keep in the toolbox as I’m not around it very often. Yes I could back-probe the connectors but I’m working on brand new machines and don’t want to cause any damage to the wires or connectors. Once I finally get to use this I’ll update my review if it doesn’t work how it is described.

If your are a tech and don't have one of these, you are doing life wrong. Voltage drop testing is where it is at, and this does the trick perfectly. Watch youtube videos on it if you have doubts.

I use this volt drop tester and it is much more convenient than a headlight, especially for 5 volt VREF circuits.

Very happy with item takes some practice to understand how I’m they work but once figured out they are excellent for testing. Feel and look great quality also.
