Shout out to this company
About a week ago, I was having a craving for some dark chocolate with something yummy. I found these and the chocolate covered oreos from the same company. The craving passed and I totally forgot I ordered these. Today, to my surprise, I had a box of goodies. Everything was good, fresh...chocolatey. But my main happy surprise was that it came with an ice pack and the packaging mentioned "warm weather." Thank you for noticing that, even though it's winter in Florida, it's still too hot to have chocolate sitting on my porch all day. The contents were perfect. Might seem small but I have ordered things (cheese in particular) that ended up melted and ruined because the company shipping didn't take into account the weather. So, thank you for my sweet treat that was ready to eat!

DELICIOUS! -One Word Sums it up
My first experience, which was probably due to a torn box that allowed air to dry out the coconut, prompted a very unfavorable review. I discarded the candy, and wrote that the the coconut was dry, and tasteless. It was impossible to slice. It just crumbled. I wrote, "Coconut should be moist. Philadelphia Candies has an excellent reputation. This is just OLD candy, even the box is old and faded." "Gee, I hate seeing my hard earned money gone in the garbage. It's too bad that food items are non-returnable, but Amazon will usually make it right. I think this is last year's model, sporting a new bar code that isn't even recognized by my Amazon scan app. Hmm." (The torn box should have given me a clue that it had been exposed to air) but, I felt bitter and cheated, and as far as I was concerned that was the end of it. UNTIL . . . The Philadelphia Candies rep had other ideas, so that evening I wrote---"Update: Out of all fairness, I feel compelled to inform you that:Before this comment could even post, I received a phone call from a representative of Philadelphia Candy. It was rather late in the evening, and at first, I thought it was a joke. Come on now, who could care whether I liked my easter egg-especially days after Easter when there was no money to be made. But who else would know about it! Bottom line is, he was very concerned about customer satisfaction, and the reputation of the company. He explained that the eggs are always made fresh, and are shipped within hours after they are made. With so many factors involved any one thing can unknowingly go wrong, to alter an excellent egg. I do remember the favorable reviews to far out weigh the negative ones. (I did only find 3 or less) The company will be sending me another coconut egg to replace the unsatisfactory one. Even though food items are non-returnable on Amazon, their products are 100% guaranteed. It has alway been my opinion that customer service extends long after the sale-and they have definitely hit the mark in that area. I am very impressed with the customer service, and they must feel confident about their product or they would not offer it knowing that people like us, actually read these comments."Final Review/Update: For those interested in knowing the final (I promise) review of the replacement Coconut Eggs sent from Philadelphia Candies.3 or 4 days later----I did receive another egg as promised. In fact, I rec'd two of them. Now I can join the majority because this egg definitely qualifies as a "5". I say this not because it is FREE, but because it is DELICIOUS! Here is the moist coconut egg that I had been looking for. Sort of like bumping in to an old buddy. I am quite pleased, and will make future purchases. I understand that Philadelphia Candies also sell some sugar-free products so, I will order something for my diabetic husband. I know that it will be quality. Why so much "to-do" about candy? Well, like many others, I am a calorie and money counter and cannot afford to waste either (calories or money), on foods that are not truly enjoyable. I had planned to upload a picture, but I kept munching away at the egg until it was not very attractive. I did not think anyone would be interested in seeing a 2/3 eaten easter egg. The customer service was amazing-they did everything short of bringing it to the door. Because of the faith that the rep had in his company and their products I was afforded the chance to re-evaluate a delicious candy.

BEST EGG EVER
This is the best fruit and nut egg I have ever bought! It's like the ones from my childhood, with good sized pieces of fruit and nuts, and a vanilla cream filling. The dark chocolate is thick and not too sweet. This treat is more expensive than some other versions out there, but worth every penny. I'll be buying more from this company.

Good product/bad packaging
Taste is delicious but packaging needs improvement for shipping. One of the two was broken and they were bought as gifts. I kept broken one for myself but dont think I'll order a replacement. They are pricey & dont want to get another damaged one.

Fell a little short of expectations
Edited March 31, 2016I'm updating this review because I am very impressed with this company's customer service. They definitely cared about my opinion about what I received and the quality of their product. I had another chance to try this egg. This time, my experience was much better and the egg looked exactly like the picture. Overall, I thought that the egg was mild and lightly sweet, with the added texture of fruit, soft nougat, and nuts. The chocolate was much better the second time around and it added the right amount of solidness when eaten with the filling. The filling was much softer and again, the taste was mildly sweet. The nougat is actually not super sweet and the fruit and the nuts really did add a contrast in texture. The flavor was unique depending on which fruit or nut you happen to take a bit of. I was initially pleased with the filling the first time around, just was not happy with the chocolate. I upgraded my review because of overall taste and because the customer service was excellent.*************************I would have to say that I am slightly disappointed in this purchase. I fell prey to the very effective ad that shows off this egg with the delicious-looking filling. I'm a sucker for fruit cake, so when I saw the picture I thought this would be the best of both worlds since I also have a weakness for nougat. It is one large egg and I wasn't surprised about that. I was, however, very disappointed that the egg did not look like the picture. It came slightly melted and leaking on one side- and streaked. It also had some small cracks. I know that doesn't mean the chocolate is bad, but still. This made me think that this wasn't properly stored and definitely hurt the presentation impression. I didn't order it in excessively high heat and it was on my porch for five minutes. I was impatient and didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it, so I ate it anyway. The taste itself is all right but I don't think it was worth the $ that I paid for it. The chocolate was okay, and the nougat was soft and not very sweet, which I prefer. The nuts and fruit did add a bit of texture and minor sweetness. Overall, the taste was very mild and light and that was good. I probably will go next time to order directly from the company.

Thanks to Amazon Iām now at the end of the 16 oz egg & just ordered another one. Taste has changed to dark chocolate.

Yumm melts in the mouth
The chocoate is smooth and tasty, and is cut with a knife into thin wafers.Never tried this type of chocolate (meltaway) before, but I would certainly buy it again, for myself *yumm* and for the family for Easter and celbration.Would recommend.

This is delicious. I bought it for my husband for Easter as more of a grown up treat and it's amazing. We tried the mint one and it's very tasty. It also lasts ages as even though it's small it's solid chocolate. Would purchase again in the future and would like to try other flavours.
