Excellent Blade For Under $ 20.00
Got this on Amazon , on sale , for under 17 bucks , & free shipping . Such a deal !!! This is a very nice little knife ! The handle is composed of two beautiful types of wood , well attached , and fitted , with very nice grain , and finish . The blade is polished to a mirror finish , and came sharp enough to shave a few hairs off of my arm . Feels very good in the hand , not flimsy , but " substantial ", without feeling heavy .The sheath is very nice , well stitched , and actually a little heavier than the leather sheath that came with my SOG Field Pup . One caution : when drawing the knife , or returning to the sheath , take care not to cut the retaining strap . I am a knife collector , and like most kinds of knives . This knife appeals to me as a classically styled " hunting " knife , and is of a very handy size to make for practical carrying for hunting , fishing , hiking , backpacking , camping , etc. , and it's also very nice just to look at , and , ( perhaps ) , less intimidating to some , than a black " tactical " style knife in a black kydex style sheath . Just sayin' ! ( = Only a couple very small , ( nitpicky ??? ) cons : the tops of 4 of the 6 pins , that hold the handle slabs on , stick out just enough to feel , if you rub your finger along the handle . Can't tell it when I am gripping the knife by the handle . This could be corrected , if done very carefully , by tapping the pins in with a suitable tool . I don't plan on doing that , unless any of the pins appear to be working loose , All in all , for a well under 20 dollar knife , I am very satisfied , and will probably be purchasing a few more Elk Ridge knives .'

The knife I received is absolute garbage
I was excited to receive this knife. I bought an Elk Ridge knife that looked almost identical to the knife in the picture some years back and I loved it. However, the knife that I received in the mail this time is absolute garbage. The tang extends well beyond the wood of the handle on both sides, unlike the one pictured, digging into my hand. The wood is probably veneer and it's poorly glued at that. The wood pieces for the handle are different sizes and there is a big gap between the handle and the tang. Other than being roughly shaped like the knife in the picture and the fact that the wood color is similar... the knife I received is absolutely not the knife pictured and it is absolutely not anywhere near the quality of past elk ride blades I have owned. If it wasn't stamped with Elk Ridge I would assume that this knife was a cheap counterfeit. That's how bad it is. I'm including pictures. I have never written a review before but I was legitimately upset when I opened the package and realized I had been hustled to pay $30 for a knife I wouldn't take for free. In the pictures you can see the gap between the wood and metal, how the veneer overlaps crookedly onto the tang and how one side of the handle wood is longer than the other and is not symmetrical in any way.

Elk Ridge Er-085
This a good knife for the money. It is pretty sharp right out of the box. Had a nice weight and balance. The sheath (leather) was better than expected. My only complaint was that the snap clasp on the sheath was broken upon arrival. Quality control should be better. I have another Elk Ridge knife and it, too, offers a lot of bang for the buck. I would by from this manufacturer again.

Super nice for the price
Beautiful knife for the price, very sharp blade, handle and sheath are very well-made. Perfect starter hunting or camping knife.

Sheath snap broke on first try
My son in law loves the knife, however, the Sheath snap broke right away. As we are in Hawaii, he chose to buy a different sheath instead of trying to return this one.

Clasp is terrible
Love the knife but over just 2 weeks time the sheaths button came off and is unusable. Knife falls out every time I get out of cab of truck and forklift which can be pretty annoying. Knife is top notch, sheath? Another story

Loose Handle.
3 out of the 4 pieces of wood on the handle are loose and don't even meet together, I guess you get what you pay for. Edge was sharp, and the knife looks like it wood have been a nice knife if not for the handle problem.

Poor construction quality
Handles are not evenly ground widths or even lengths, do not align with the tang in any way, and the edge is very rough with an obvious bur as if it was not buffed/stropped
