Lisle 27490 E-4 Torx Socket

If you're needing to change out your ignition switch assembly on a 98 Chevy truck, you probably should get this. I have a set of E torx sockets but they weren't long enough. This tool made changing out my ignition switch easy. Hopefully I'll only need it this one time but if I ever need to change it again, I'm ready.

A high quality special purpose socket for a reasonable price (Ordered 2 in case I needed to cut and weld to produce a longer one). It was for my 99 Tahoe ignition switch changeout. The 2 screws that retain the switch are E4 and recessed between the switch body and the tumbler housing. This socket barely gets the top one, but does. The taper to the 1/4" drive body is in contact with the tumbled housing and switch body, but it turns the screw out and back it. I may throw the socket on the lathe and cut back the shoulder a tad, just to be sure for the next time. Another easy mod would be to cut off the straight E4 section and weld it on an old 1/4" extension bar. You could have an E4 with a 6"+ reach! For the price you can afford to experiment.I do a little auto diagnostics on the side and frequently run into these "Gotchas".If you need one, this is a quality socket for a specific situation, which is what Lisle is famous for addressing. Lisle hits a homerun once again! The 5 dollar solution, delivered fast. It's hard to beat that.If you need this, you know what it is, If you are planning on a job where you might need it, just buy it!

This is a very well made tool. The fit was perfect. I used this on the ignition switch bolts on a late 90's Chevrolet pickup. Definitely makes the job much easier.

This socket is deep enough to fit in the steering column of a Chevrolet, works perfect. Others are too thick... Lost the first one, so got a replacement.. well worth the money.

Este dado parece de buena calidad, es muy comodo contar con esta herramienta cuando de toca trabajar con tornilleria sobre todo de componentes de Chevrolet como lo son los tornillos de los solenoides de los motores de arranque; puesto que es verdaderamente facil barrerlos si no cuentas con el Lisle 27490. Estoy conforme con el producto y lo volveria a comprar!
