Great Buy
Great coffee. Nice flavor and bold! Nice price for a quality coffee!

Best out there.
This coffee has such an amazing flavor, it really doesn't need sweetener. On my fasting days I have realized that it doesn't hurt to drink much on an empty stomach, so I assume it has low acidity; it also doesn't make you go to the bathroom after a cup. Certainly worth the price.

If you love smooth full flavored coffee, this is for you!
This is fantastic coffee!!! Aroma is so rich and the flavor is smooth. I have been drinking this for at least three years. I use a French press with bottled water.

Mild Flavor but Very Smooth
I love this coffee! It is very mild and smooth. If I want stronger flavor, I just add an extra scoop to my brewer. But...I tend to be on the stingy side and not use as much coffee because this is more on the pricey side.

It's a Fan Favorite
Our favorite coffee. It taste so delicious, as coffee should. It's in our subscribe and save. We also buy it as gifts for friends. It's not bitter but it is very smooth. Enjoyable. (We use it our Breville Barista Touch Impress.)

Great for espressos, macchiatos & cappucinos, a little weak for lattes
The short & sweet:Pros: good quality, fresh beans.Con: might be too sweet for people that like espressoI am a big espresso fan and usually aim to try new flavors out there. Kicking Horse has been always on my mind when purchasing beans but I can't recall the last time I actually did. So, when I ran out of my personal batch, I decided to give them a try. I love medium roasts, although most of the ones I get are usually light because I prefer the bitter/acidity taste for my specialty drinks (mix with milk). Nevertheless, I wanted to try the Cliff Hanger medium roast and see if I would like it.Beans: the beans are oily and fresh in the packaging, and smell deliciousEspresso: straight up pulled shot, the Cliff Hanger is aromatic and gives off (to me & my nose) a light taste of dark chocolate. It is sweet to the taste and acidity levels are minimum.Macchiato: I think this is where this bean shines! A macchiato with the Kicking Horse tastes heavenly! There is a sweet spot for any bean and I think this is it!Cappuccino: I do enjoy sweet cappuccinos, but do have to say the coffee is a little distant in this mixtureLatte: I feel like this blend is too "smooth" for lattes and gets lost in the milkOverall: I think the Kicking Horse is a great bean if you want to use it for espressos, macchiatos or cappuccino. If you are an avid latte drinker and like the coffee taste, this might be on the lighter side for you.

Great Marketing, Wonderful Aroma, Superficial Flavor
Disclaimer: I'm a total coffee amateur. My usual morning cup is a cappuccino made with freshly ground beans in a single serving stovetop maker. I occasionally French press, rarely drip and rarely Turkish. I normally like dark, strong, and moderately sweet coffee. I had been fairly satisfied with my grocery store's bulk espresso beans (Melitta I think), but since they couldn't seem to keep it stocked, and I figured I could find something better, I decided to try Kicking Horse. After reading all the positive reviews, I had high hopes for this brand. I started with the Cliff Hanger Espresso which had an amazing aroma, but a surprising lack of flavor and mouth feel. Not a bad or burnt flavor, just very little. I tried French pressing and dripping. I even bought a ceramic mill to get an extremely fine grind. Still the flavor was nothing like the aroma (or the reviews) suggested. I ended up giving that bag away to an appreciative friend.Next I tried the Grizzly Claw based on Kicking Horse's description: "Those brave enough to take on this wild, dark roast will be rewarded with ample-bodied flavour." The aroma was not quite equal to that of the Cliff Hanger, but the flavor was decidedly bolder, though one-dimensional. I found I needed to use more sugar to try to round out the flavor, which is something I try to avoid.Since then I've tried Lavazza Super Crema, which has extraordinary roundness and depth, but not quite the boldness I've been searching for (though it seems to be teaching me that boldness isn't as important as I thought). Still searching, suggestions welcome.Kicking Horse conclusion: Good, but overrated - I suspect in part due to their great marketing (organic, fair trade, recycled packaging, blah, blah, and colorful descriptions involving bravery and such).

Damn good coffee!
Some of the best coffee I have ever had. I will be buying this again. If you like a little chocolate in your morning wake up, then this is the one you should try. I can't give it more than 5 stars or I would.

My go to bean for the cup of Joe
Once in a while I would go on a journey and search for the next best tasteful bean, with reasonable amount of money can buy ... (less than $20/lb) Ended up always come back to this one, and so what I did is sign up for Amazon subscription. Roam free and try new stuff, yet keep my palate alive and calibrated with this awesome dark roasted beans! Not sure how this is even possible, flavor is super complex in this one, you get to extract different flavor and note highlights simply buy grinding this finer / coarser, and not to mention French press brewing it with different water temperature changes the whole experience too!My recommendation? Get the whole bean and invest in a good burr grinder, then join me with the coffee tasting adventure, cheers. Also, bean roasted in BC Canada is the cherry on the cake.

it's GOOD coffee
my girlfriend and I are now regularly buying Lucky Jim and Kick Ass versions of the coffee. I still like a lighter roast with a bit more citrusy flavour during the summer months but during fall and winter when you need something a bit more cozy Lucky Jim is a good roast!

Great!

Really good quality coffee and subscription options make life easier
Great coffee. This is the lightest roast that we buy (Three Sisters is a medium roast), and it sees regular monthly rotation through our grinder. In general, I find that the Kicking Horse beans are consistent in terms of freshness, quality, and roasting levels from bag to bag, year to year.Individual flavour profiles are hard to review, as it depends entirely on an individuals taste preferences, but I can say with certainty that the three sisters medium roast is true to it's name as a medium roast coffee, and that the flavour matches well with the bags description of "cocoa, stone fruit, and sweet tobacco". Beans are always aromatic and oily, I've never had any off flavours or shrivelled, stale beans.Love Amazon carrying this through the subscribe options, and in 1 kg bags! We have monthly subscriptions set up for our coffee beans, and I've found that these Kicking Horse bags are always fresh and at a better price than any of my local stores.
