My favorite turning tools
These are probably my favorite turning tools!The 1" roughing gouge is the perfect size for small and medium sized blanks and I'm glad I found this set. I haven't seen any other 1" gouges for such a low price (with good steel to boot) and it's a nice compromise between precision and wanton stock removal. I have the PSI 8 piece set for comparison and the smaller roughing gauge in that set feels 'choked' for lack of a better word - it's hard to phrase, but the geometry of the hurricane rouging gouge just feels better to handle.The larger roughing gouge I've only used once and I frankly have no use for it at the moment, but I'm looking forward to needing it for bigger projects down the line.As a beginning turner, this is a very nice set, and though I wish the 1" was sold alone, I don't regret buying the two as a set. The price is fair, the steel is great (takes a great edge), and the company clearly cares about its customers. Highly recommended.

Great quality at a very fair price
I own a few of the Hurricane brand tools and have had very good results with them.I find that they do need a good edge put on them first thing is important though as is with most turning tools I have purchased.

Roughing Gouges
These roughing gouges are well made and worth the money. However, do not make the mistake I did and assume that the new tools will perform exactly the same as the ones you are replacing. The one inch gouge performed very well. When I brought out the new two inch to smooth some green wood, there was an immediate catch and the tool snapped at the handle. This is only the second tool I have broken in over twenty years of turning. However, I say again this was most likely my fault and would not fault the company. I will weld this together and beef up the tang a bit.

Awesome price for the size, great for roughing into round!
These are MUCH better than my Robert Sorby smaller tools for taking off the bulk of rough wood I turn. The fit and finish is not bad for the price. The blades seemed to be sharp enough to turn with, I touched them up after a little bit though.Really nice size for getting rid of lots of waste.I wouldn't hesitate to buy more Hurricane tools after using these.

Good quality, but sent them back.
These appeared to be very good gouges. However, between the time I ordered them and these gouges arrived, I had been gifted a bundle of gouges from an estate and a couple of the gouges were this exact size.

THESE ARE AWESOME!!!
The price for two cannot be beat! The Quality, length, and weight are awesome! Word of caution... the ad says that they are not sharp... However... beware... mine both came with beautifully honed edges... super sharp! I am not sure if they all come that way but I was happy these were... just be careful!
