I will likely attach the permanent mounts now that I am more comfortable with their positions

The Camco Gen-Turi is an absolute must have for your RV generator if camping at festivals or tailgating where you are closely parked. In fact many festivals are now requiring you to have a generator exhaust pipe.Installation is an absolute breeze. All you need is a wrench or pliers to tighten the included exhaust adapter couplings to your existing generator exhaust. Three of these adapter couplers are included to allow usage with just about any generator. The adapter coupler remains permanently attached and has a hole for connecting the first riser pipe. A metal clip is used to attach the curved metal pipe from the bottom Gen-Turi riser to your generator. Then two additional pipes are stacked above to to the exhaust above your roof line. The second pipe has an attached rubber bungee-type cord to stabilize the entire series of riser pipes. Older reviews and articles I found before purchasing this referred to suction cups. I don't know if they decided to not included these currently, but my package only had the more permanent clips with double sided tape and screws. Since I wasn't ready to make screw holes in the body right now, I did get suction cups from a local store, which I am using for stabilizing the unit. I will likely attach the permanent mounts now that I am more comfortable with their positions, but for those that don't want to put screw holes in their exterior, the suction cups have been working great on the smooth fiberglass surface.Except for the lower curved pipe that attaches directly to the generator, the rest of the riser pipes are made of a thin wall plastic. There is no concern about melting. That is because of the venturi effect that is used in the design of the unit. Where the lower plastic pipe attaches to the metal pipe, there is an open air gap which allows cooler air to be drawn in with the rising exhaust vapors. This helps to keep the pipes cooler, and helps to dilute the carbon monoxide and other fumes in the exhaust by mixing it with fresh air.The entire system comes packaged in a nylon bag which makes for easy storage in one of our lower compartments.I've read comments on forums about people being concerned about carbon monoxide entering their camper particularly through running air conditioners. This is not a concern. First, even with mixing fresh air into the exhaust through the 'venturi', the exhaust that is rising through the pipe is still warmer than the ambient air temperature, and will continue to rise and disperse. Secondly, air conditioning systems recirculate the inside air and are not drawing in outside air while running. I have used this with our roof vents open, and will say that there is no noticeable exhaust entering the camper. If the generator was running with the door open, before purchasing this unit, the CO2 alarm would go off. No more problems with that now that we have the Gen-Turi.Before purchasing this unit, I did a fair amount of forum reading. I did see many homebrew versions of this. In the end I figured the amount I could save was small enough to not warrant me having to build this when it was commercially available and delivered to my door. Between the cost of gas running to the local home improvement store to accumulate all the parts, and the time to try and build it... there was insufficient savings to not buy the real thing.I can't imagine anybody running their RV generator without having a Gen-Turi. Be good to yourself. Be good to your neighbors. Move the exhaust up, up, and away.

Works with Onan 5500 Generator

Easy to install and remove. I'm using this for my Winnebago class A 5500 Onan generator. I had a generator transfer switch ($450) added to my house power panel and now using my RV generator for the house emergency power, and it powers almost everything except 240 circuits. The Camco Gen-Turi RV Generator Exhaust Venting System allows me to keep the exhaust away from our and neighbors houses. Excellent purchase.

For something so simple, it works perfectly.

I am impressed! This "thing" works exactly as it's supposed to. It took me perhaps 15 minutes to install the exhaust adapter (somewhat unusual situation, so it could take others a lot less time if all was "normal"), which remains in place on the generator's exhaust pipe. All the pieces fit together precisely, so that once the exhaust adapter is installed, it takes maybe 5 minutes to install the whole thing--and it works! It quiets the generator a little, but most important, it diverts the generator exhaust about 10' above the normal exhaust pipe outlet. The recommended test, of seeing if a small piece of paper will travel upwards inside it, worked exactly as predicted--perfectly.Some comments:>The curved steel part that is attached to the exhaust adapter gets really hot. Keep pets and children away! Not sure how, but I'm thinking some sort of protective shield might be a good idea. It stays hot, well after the generator has been shut down, so no one should get anxious to demount the system too quickly. I didn't time it, but I'd guess it was a good 5 minutes before I could leave my fingers on it.> The plastic piping never gets too hot to touch. My first test run was for about 15 minutes with the generator running and the RV's air conditioner loading it. The ambient temperature during the test was about 95 degrees. Yet I could touch the plastic pipe anywhere that I chose to.>I can't imagine making one as inexpensively as this one costs, while still trusting it to do the job. I'm a DIY person, so I priced pipe and pieces some time ago, and if my time is worth more than 25 cents/hour, I couldn't duplicate as good a one for the money.

Well designed with lots of options

I didn't actually use this, as the place I was going to use it, misrepresented their rules and claimed to require this with a sales link. When it turned out I didn't really need it, the return process was flawless. If I needed or wanted one of these to remove engine fumes from nearby camping, I would definitely purchase this product again.

Works great. No more emission under the RV from the generator while parked

This exhaust vent is easy to install and works great. It allows air to come in from the bottom to help force the exhaust upward above the camper. It seems to quiet down the sound some too. Make sure you allow it to cool before you remove it from the camper as it does get quite warm as you would expect.
