My 7 year old Kelpie, Zira, was having pain issues with her hind legs. She would chase squirrels, or jumpfar (a Kelpie thing) and come back limping, and sometimes barely able to hobble about. I got pain meds for her,and they worked fine if I kept her ( or tried to) from running and re-injuring herself. It only happened every few weeks, but I was concerned. No one liked to consider mortality for their youngish very well-loved dog! So I searched for a glucosamine -chondroitin preparation, and was wowed by the reviews for this one!I was a bit skeptical, and it took about 3 weeks, but then I realized that Zira hadn't hurt herself, and was actually running like she did when younger, again! I still tell her to "walk" when I'm there when she runs, where I used to tell hr to "Run!" when she was young and could make fast circuits of our large (2/3 acre) yard. I don't want to chance an injury, but she seems so much happier and it has been 3 months with no injury! She didn't seem thrilled by the flavor at first (she's a bit spoiled) but now takes them with no problem every morning. She is about 70 pounds and takes one per day. The only thing I do not like is that Amazon sometimes puts the bottle in a bubble-envelope, and in transport, some of the tablets are damaged. There is a lot of powdered product in the bottom of the bottle. I am saving that to put on Zira's food if I have a gap in shipments. I don't know how to notify Amazon and ask if they ship with bigger packing bubbles in a box.

The tablets are get for big dogs. Might need smaller ones for smaller dogs.The product works great. Claude is having a better time walking.

My dog has a touch of arthritis in one hip and so I've had him on glucosamine for years, and as long as he gets enough of it he has no pain in his hips and jumps and plays freely, but if he doesn't get enough than he has problems jumping. Normally, I buy his tablets at Trader Joe's and they work great, thought I would try this because it has some other health benefits as well, but unfortunately within a week of using this his hip started bothering him and we had to switch back to his regular tablets, so I don't believe this is very effective. Also, he did eat the tablets ok but it seemed like he was eatting them more because I gave them to him rather than because he enjoyed them, so I'm not sure how a less compliant dog would respond to the flavor of these, and they might be refused.

I was previously feeding my dog cosequin joint tablets, and I feel like this works just as well. However, my dog does not have any major joint issues, so I can't say for certain that this works as well as other brands. I have not noticed any difference so far in his gait. I give my large shepherd joint supplements to prevent future joint issues, since they are common to the breed. He eats these tablets readily, without me having to hide them in pill pockets or anything like that. They are quite large tablets, however. This may be best suited for larger dogs. I think that some picky dogs might not be too fond of the tablet form.Since the price is the same (or more) than the supplement I was already using, I will probably stick to the previous supplement I was using, since it is a more well-known and studied brand than this. If the price for this supplement was cheaper, I would probably purchase this since I do not see any noticeable difference.
