Is it timed release?  I heard if not, effectiveness is destroyed by stomach acid

If it were time released, it would say on the bottle...I really like this product, and it makes a huge difference when I take them. Very good for regulating the system, and stopping you from bloating.It is hard to find this many strains 10 strain and this many 50 billion in one capsuleOne  per day works well for me, especially in combination with  a fiber supplement or prebiotics.Now trusted professionals are recommending 100 billion per day. It is very important to have at least 10 strains and up to 14 per capsule. Capsules are best, I do not like tablets, especially in this supplement. I wish Amazon would keep more in stock.

Hi, the description says 50 billion and the pictures is 25 billion, would you pls make that clear for me? does it causes constipation?

This product does NOT cause constipation. I don't know why they put a picture of the 25 billion if it is a caption for 50 billion. The 50 billion is stronger, better, and more expensive. I love this product and take it every day on an empty stomach with a full glass of water.

I need this product to be shipped outside the US. Since it needs to be refrigerated, how will this affect the product?

Most of the answers here are incorrect. I ordered this product from another online retailer (Vitacost) and in their cart it clearly states "This product will be shipped cold." It arrived with a strong ice pack. I called Vitacost and asked whose policy it was to do that. The rep told me that it is required by Now Foods to ship the probiotics with cold packs. Well, I wanted to confirm this and I just called Now Foods and spoke with the right department. The Now expert said that used to be their policy but about 3 years ago they changed their policy. The product does not need to be shipped cold at this time, however it needs to be refrigerated when you receive it. I don't like to have probiotics shipped to me in the intense summer heat, so he recommended buying enough product in the spring to last until the fall/winter and just store it in the refrigerator or even the freezer and it will keep its potency.I'm actually impressed that Vitacost ships the Now probiotics in cold packs. I am a bit concerned about Amazon warehouses because a couple of weeks ago a seller posted Amazon's seller guidelines that stated their warehouses can reach 100 degrees so supplements that cannot withstand that temperature should not be stored in Amazon's warehouses. I don't want to believe this because I purchase a large number of my supplements from Amazon and have always assumed their supplements are kept in a cooler in their warehouses. The Now Foods rep said that in their tests, a few days of shipping should not harm the potency, but he couldn't speak for longer storage without refrigeration.  I don't see anything here about Amazon shipping this product cold, so for probiotics, I feel better having it shipped from the other company with an ice pack until I discover more about Amazon's storage.

Can this be used as yogurt culture to make homemade yogurt?

Yes, this can be used to make yogurt.  I have used it with soy milk and with nonfat cows milk.
