been outstanding throughout this winter months as haven't had to use the gas furnace yet thus far! have had temperatures to -14C and still put out warm air.

No way to program it without wrecking its efficiency
I recently had this unit installed. The unit itself works quite well, but the controls stink. The only way to program the temperature settings turns the entire system off and on, which the rep told me not to do, since this reduces the system's fantastic efficiency & defeats the whole purpose of having a ductless heat pump. So, in effect there is no way to program the temp settings without ruining its efficiency. You would think that simple, programable temp controls would be a no-brainer in a modern system. The designers could easily have added this feature. Even my old thermostat did that.Instead, there is an auto mode that uses a motion sensor. If it senses no movement it assumes you're not home and switches to a kind of standby mode that lowers or raises the temperature 3.6 degrees. But it also does this if you're just watching TV or asleep. This kind of dumb one-size-fits-all automatic system is just bad design. So Daikin makes this wonderfully efficient system and then provides no way to program it without wrecking its efficiency!Go figure...

To All who are thinking on purchasing..
Tom Fulery, and to anyone else...You have to understand that these systems are NOT your normal type, standard Air Conditioners. They're are "Inverter Technology Driven". Meaning: They are design to save ton lots of energy through the different modes by the inverter compressor. Take for example the mode "intelligent eye" or the "econo cool" . These features, along with many others are not like standard ACs. Standard ACs will call for cool and give you the temperature you what you want like a nagging kid asking for candy. With that being, the compressor on the standard units will run run run run until the user turns off the unit or adjust the temperature setting - using modes as cool only. This in-turn, uses up energy upon energy. We can illustrate standard AC better like this: Let's say we want to use the light in the garage. We flick the light switch, light comes on, we do what we have to do, flick back off the switch, then leave. That's standard units. It will run the compressor until you don't need it no more. The best it gets with standard or (none inverter type units) are the auto function, which isn't really enough for supreme energy saving. Unit will shut down when it reaches it set temperature, then powers back up the compressor(pulling amps) when the temperature in the room is raise. That's wasting energy. The Daikin Inverter Units surpasses all this. Most inverter technology is key to saving. We simply HAVE TO just understand how it works. So the function or mode "intelligent eye" is the economize way to be comfortable and save energy. Like Tom was saying, it raises in temperature by itself without the user touching it. We just set it and it's on its own. The reason it raises in temperature is because it "see what's going on" in a sense. The intelligent eye scans the room for heat waves, movements, constant activity etc... IF THEY ARE NO ACTIVY IN THE ROOM, the unit does it's function, which is saving energy by reducing the speed on its compressor to a much very lower compression speed UNTIL, activity, heat waves, movement etc is detected by the "eye" of the unit which then will call it for more compression on the compressor economically. THIS, in turn, saves you energy. How? It is because it's not power off the compressor when it reaches it set temperature. Nor is it running constantly like most standard unit do. And this is One out of the many economic/energy saving function for diakin or any other inverter technology products. I hope this will be able to help anyone looking to purchase a energy saving unit. ITS WORTH IT!

Stay away
Just awful. Had 2 inside units installed both had issues.
