Princess Celesta (7, Triplett) asked Queen Mother why she had to leave.Dragon’s were all around the Kitty Castle.Princess Priscilla (7, Triplett) & Princess Keziah (7, Triplett) asked the same thing.Princess Keziah told the other 2 there’s a secret passageway.Nightcat (magical tiger size, large silver-furred wings old silver cat) was way ahead of the girls. The Dragons are night cats & once were kittens. What did Great Aunt Esmeralda have to do with this transformation?Richard (son/brother) & David (son/brother) agreed they shouldn’t tell their parents what they found out about Nightcap & the dragons. All the children returned to their room’s to wait for morning to come & for Nightcat return.I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) fairy tale storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great fairy tale movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. To be continued. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.Thank you for the free author (s); FreeBooksy; Amazon Digital Services LLC. Kindle Mobi bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

Good for Early Readers. Too Simple for Advanced Readers or as a Read Aloud.
There are a couple of ways to consider this book. One is as a read aloud book for a family. Another is as something for an independent reader.I personally think the prose and plot are a little too simplistic for a good read aloud book, so I'm going to review it based on how it fares as a standalone book for an early independent reader.I'd say the grade level is probably about first or second grade. Fairly simple, straight forward text, easy to understand. Some of the things that would be a hiccup to me if I were considering the book as something to read to my children (the story repeats things sometimes and explains things in a way that feels a little bit like "talking down") might actually help a reader who is struggling with the words and might need the repetition for comprehension. My daughter's reading level is about Boxcar Children right now, and I'm pretty sure she'd grasp all the words.I was disappointed that the dragons are teased but we don't actually get to see them. The story feels like a chapter in a larger story, not a standalone. I get that it is a series, but I really wish it had been given a more defined plot arc. Either that or cut down some and combined with later sections to provide more story/action.Also the fact that it has a very young author might encourage the child to develop their own interest in creative writing.Another pro is that it offers a lot of wish fulfillment and things that children will probably find funny. There's somewhat of a narrow window though for the ideal audience. It is so very simple (and not a lot actually happens in the story. It feels more like a set up for a longer story) that I think it might bore more advanced readers ... but it has enough complicated sentence structure that it is probably too hard for "just learning to read" children. If your child still needs you to point to the words and is patient enough to do this through a chapter book, it's a good book for that. It would also be a decent first chapter book if the child is ready to strike out on their own. If your child is a more fluent reader, something more meaty might suit them better.

NIGHTCATS AND PRINCESSES
This is the first book in a fantasy series written by a mother-daughter author team. At the beginning of the tale, readers learn that three princesses, Celeste, Priscilla, and Keziah have been left along with their two brothers, Richard, and David in the castle. Their parents have gone off to protect the kingdom from the dragons who have grown to a monstrous size. The children are under the care of their tutor, the cook, and their pet cat, NightCat. When a giant bear is rumored to be lurking in the castle, the children discover that their pet cat has magical powers. He has grown wings and has a magic pool that will allow him to shrink the dragons. Much of the plot consists of the children working with NightCat to develop his powers and outsmart the adults who are unbelievers. There are several gaps in the connections of the storyline, though the targeted audience of ages six through nine probably won’t notice. Sentences are short and include a lot of dialogue. There are a few editing errors, and the story does end abruptly which is probably a setup for the next adventure. A few illustrations would enhance the short chapter book.

Magical
My choice would be 5 stars. Because this book was a fantasy, action-adventure, and it was enchanted. It made my heart want to jump! First there parents left to fight the dragons. There kids had a cat called Nightcat. If you treated them nice and not pull there tail, they would drink magic water and turn into a tiger-sized creature, and it woud have wings. But if you treated them badly, they would turn into a dragon. if you splashed the magic water on the dragons, they would turn back into a kitten. I am a child. I read the first one for free and I loved it. So I decided to use my own money bc I loved it so much!!!

Child Approved
My kids and my niece adore this book and the whole series! Perfect for grade 1 students who are ready to make the leap to independent reading. Full of adventure and excitement and cats! This may be the best combination for instilling a love of reading in children.

Cute story. Way too short though for the price in my opinion. Three books should be one book for the amount of content.

Excellent read!
The authors do an excellent job of pulling the reader into the story. It's a fun read and makes me look for more books in the series.

This child/mum collaboration has a very good idea behind it and there is a lot that a child with any imagination can easily latch on to. However, reading it as an adult, the writing style still needs to be developed. We have only read the first one in the series, so this may yet happen.
