I mounted two of these, one on either side of my 16ft dinghy, to gain access to ballast areas of my 42 yr old boat. I thought these to be a great value, and I am not disappointed; reasonably weather proof, and, though a bit shinier than other hatches I've mounted, it does not detract from the overall appearance of the boat. Note, however: these require a fairly flat surface to mount and function properly; they can be bent slightly, but more than 1/16- 1/8 of an inch over its length and quite a bit less in width will cause binding of the hinge and improper sealing. I made due by cutting HDPE shims that filled the voids lengthwise, caused by the difference in the curve of my inner hull to the flat flange mount surface (about 1/2" gap at the widest), and then slathered a liberal amount of 5200 to all mating surfaces, allowed to set a bit before making fast. I am very happy with the result, but this was a lengthy measuring, cutting (my hull and 1/2" HDPE sheet), fitting and mounting process, involving both fabrication and suitable mounting hardware selection, careful attention to details and judicious application of the sealer and suitable solvent. One could fabricate a new fiberglass surface on which to mount these, but I chose a route that would not require me to repaint the interior of my boat; I saw that as adding dozens of hours if not more to this project. As I've indicated, these hatches ARE flexible and can be distorted beyond reasonable function (hinge and seal) without proper mounting. But, for the price, a good value. A fabricating sailor friend of mine, upon seeing the finished results, was incredulous when I told him the price; he thought they looked much more expensive.

Nice hatch, works perfectly. Used it on a new deck on my Smoker Craft. The material is a little harder plastic, different from the average soft plastic.

Sturdy waterproof hatchs

I own a 23 foot tow behind camper . The unit only had one hatch on the right front for storage . I wanted to install some storage on the left rear slide out. I carefully cut out a hole for this hatchway and installed using Proflex RV sealer and screws going in to wood uprights and frame of slide . The product came fast and was packaged well. Overall the quality and materials of this Marine grade hatch was top notch. Rubber gasket protrudes just enough to make it waterproof which is of top priority on any camper install. Plastic frame is stout and had no trouble using screws to nail it down. Latch is easy to use and seals tight . Flange is large enough to screw down easily and covered the hole quite nicely . Overall well made product and now I have way more space to store the power cord,TV cable and Potable water hose and Sewer supports on the side they should be on. Would buy this product again. Hope this helps .
