Just used it on 4 in ducting and it worked great. Not like factory but real well! Recommend

I have had a good experience with the handling of the order and I am impressed with the tool but have only done one trial run on it as I have not had time to use it for the job I have intended. That said it is well made and should handle the job. My only problem is this is the third time I have rated the tool. Also these reports would be more conclusive if they were asked after a period of time where a person had time to use it to see how it would hold up. I will say this time was more user friendly than the other reports I made on it. So as of now I am very pleased with the Malco Crimping tool. It works great, i've used it on both mild steel and stainless steel ducting (gas flue for my use) and it works flawlessly. It will be one of those tools that I will wonder how I used to manage without it. Built solid and does a great job, can't fault it. Recommended for sure.

Unless you're a contractor doing a lot of vent work, you won't use this much. But when you need it, you need it. This is very easy to use and gives a very nice, professional looking crimp.

Works great on sheet metal tubing like air duct or on gutter down-spouts; the tool helps create a male fitting to slide duct type metal parts together. I learned that the three blades should be on the outside, while the two blades are on the inside of sheet metal tube, this helps create the reduced radius opening so that parts can slide together. Sure beats trying to use two pairs of pliers to crinkle/create a duct reduction or pinch seams together.

For other: undetermined -- probably fine. For 2" galvanized downspouts: Fail I bought this mistakenly thinking I could use it for 2" galvanized downspouts. It completely failed; I could not join downspouts where the male end is formed using this tool. When I cam back to this page I saw a reference to the Malco C4 crimper which specifically is for downspouts -- I have ordered the C4 and will report accordingly. The 3 start rating is not for the quality of the tool (it appears heftily built), but the intended use. It would behoove the vendor to reference the C4 crimper in the above description thereby educating a would-be purchaser who might have in mind using a crimper for downspouts. It's my guess this is a lighter duty crimper than the C4. I'm going to keep this tool in my arsenal.

Not as pictured. I received the newer version with black and red handles. Works fine tho, just thought I was getting the pictured item.

This is my first time assembling galvanized ducting, and this tool was PERFECT. After a pipe was cut to fit, I could crimp one end and get a perfect joint using this tool.
