The Ukulele Handbook

Exceptional value. I've had over 30 ukulele books, and this is the best by far.First half is colorful, well presented history and description of the various uke, styles, and players. Second half is truly exceptional presentation of lessons, theory, and methodology, The lessons are geared for beginning to advanced. Ideas are presented simply, and with lots of ideas on ways to play them with more feeling! Thus it presents what are usually intermediate to advanced techniques from the very beginning. So, one can impress even players of many years, with only a few lessons learned.Beginners are likely to actually use this book and become lifelong Hawaiian ukulele club playing hipsters ! Kanikapila !!!

I gave this book 3 stars because it lacked sufficient instructional content and only included a small amount of songs- that's what I was looking for. The author did a great job,however, giving a history of the ukelele.

Wonderful book, but my copy came with a black marker mark down the front and 30% of the pages stuck together at the top and I had to cut them open.

This is a fantastic book. I'm fairly new to the ukulele and this book has so much practical information! It is written with brevity where it is easy to understand. I have several other ukulele books and this is by far the best. I highly recommend this book. It has great diagrams and pictures as well.

Gave it to me daughter-in-law for Xmas, along with a nice ukulele. She loves them both.

I was given a ukulele as a present and although I have a working knowledge of a guitar I had little idea of where to start with its smaller cousin.This book was recommended to me and, having looked at some other options, I bought a copy. For me it has been an excellent tutor and I have seen an improvement in my guitar playing too as I have got a better grasp of strumming techniques.The book takes you through a 6 week course, but you can work to your own timetable and, as long as you follow the lessons, you should benefit. There are several popular old time songs that you can learn, but the book also promots you to work out some newer stuff too.All in all this is probably the best music tutor book I have used.

This book is a very good tutorial .It first gives a history of the Uke and its famous players before on page 78 leads you into some very good advice on buying an appropriate Uke. There is then into a 6 week ( or however long you want ) structured course on playing it showing strumming techniques and how to interpret musical notation such as Tab and chord diagrams.The whole thing is really professional and well laid out
