Amazing Spider-man - Red Goblin 1 (Amazing Spider-man, 1)

Poor dialogue ruins awesome plot
This volume concludes Dan Sport's run on Amazing Spider-man. It contains all the issues from volume 8 and 9 except for Annual 42 which means you are better off probably buying both those volumes instead. Now onto the content. The premise is great, Norman Osborn merges with the Carnage symbiote and takes on Spidey. Slott shows his knowledge on the Spider-verse, delivering tons of awesome fanservice which is sure to please long time readers. However, the dialogue felt very poor. Characters say stuff that they normally shouldn't. For example, Flash Thompson is now a Vet but he still talks like he is in high school. Norman Osborn's threats felt like it was meant for a 15 year old Peter Parker. Being a comic book, poor dialogue messes with characterisation and in turns ruins the story no matter how great the idea is.I would recommend this issue for anyone looking to finish Slott's run. But if you were a casual reader and was atteacted that Carnage merged with Green Goblin. All I can say is avoid this. In fact, Slott's post Secret War Spidey stories have decreased in quality. So buy everything from Brand New Day up till the stuff from post Superior Spider-Man and before Worldwide. Everything else is just not worth your money.

OK, fitting end to Slott's run on Spider-Man
I would say this book was at least as good as Venom, Inc. I was a little disappointed, only because I didn't think that it lived up to the high bar set by Superior Spider-Man or Big Time.I think you're supposed to read Spider-Man Worldwide first, but I'm not sure.

Carnage!
Great, and fun story. Had some real thrills and consequences (not sure how long they’ll stick though).

Fine ending to a remarkable run
Don’t start here - back up to at least Superior vol 1 if you are a newcomer to Slott’s work on Spider-Man and read it all.Thank you, Mr. Slott — it was a great run (and I’ve been reading Spidey comics for well over forty years).

Let there be Carnage!
An unmissable, fantastic Spider-Man story by Dan Slott, featuring Norman Osborn bonded with the Carnage Symbiote to create the evil Red Goblin. Any Spider-Man fan wouldn’t want to miss out on this, the art is fantastic and the story is thrilling to the end. Worth every penny. (5/5)

Das großartige Finale von Dan Slott
Fünf Sterne heißt bei GR: It was amazing - wie in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN !Taschentücher raus!

92 gute Idee, keine einzige ausgearbeitet.

Must own for Spider-Man fans
What a fantastic Spider-Man story. This will go down as an All time great classic. Book is very good quality with good binding and pages that aren't too thin.My one gripe is I didn't find some of the art to appealing but that's a personal taste.
