KetoBM Blood Ketone Meter Kit

My first ketone Meter. I use it for myself and occasionally with patients. It’s easy to use. The instructions and scale provided are accurate and simple to follow. The blood keto levels provided is as accurate as the scale I use in the hospital. Great product.

Urine test strips made me want to scratch my head -- but I couldn't because one hand was clutching the bottle with the color guide while the other was holding the used strip. Every time, the best I walked away with was...a good guess. Breath analyzers were a joke. Depending on how hard I blew, I would get readings anywhere from 0.5 to 8.9 -- within a 5 min time frame. What? Sure, I could probably, eventually train myself to blow consistently, but how do I know what "breath strength" will give me the right readings? So I finally caved and splurged on this blood meter. Blood meters are the most expensive option, since I'll likely have to buy blood test strips and lancets forever...or for as long as I stick to the Keto diet, anyway. But I'd rather pay more for something that's accurate and consistent than save money on things that might or might not work, right? I was able to open the box and get the whole shebang going within a minute. The directions were simple and easy to follow (a bit redundant, though, to have the quick start guide AND the owner's manual AND the paper insert, all with the exact same instructions). And, thank goodness, they're in perfect, easy-to-understand English and not in size 2 font (I hate instruction manuals that come in teeny tiny print!). The lancet holder was intuitive to lock & load, the test strips were in a secure capsule, the meter itself only needed batteries (included) to get up and running, loading the test strip into the meter was simple, and... really, what took the longest was trying to guess which number setting to use with the lancet to draw enough blood without hurting myself, then actually gathering the courage to do the deed. I started at 2, but it wasn't strong enough to draw any blood, so I took a deep breath, moved the dial to 3, and...click! Second time was the charm. Perfect little drop of blood, and absolutely NO pain at all. I'd worried for nothing! Placed the blood drop against the strip, heard a beep, waited 10 seconds, and - voila - a clear reading of 2.9, exactly where I wanted to and should have been. This is my first time using a blood meter, so I don't have a basis of comparison with other brands and models, but KetoBM definitely does exactly what I need it to do. It even saves your last 180 readings, including time and date of the readings. And bonus -- everything comes neatly packed in a handy, compact storage case. No guesswork, no head scratching, no straining my eyes at a tiny pee stick trying to compare one shade of mauve to a slightly darker shade of mauve, no blowing into a breath meter to the point of dizziness, trying and trying again only to get 10 different readings. Just load, lock, prick, and...done! Why didn't I get this blood meter sooner?

It's simple, easy to use, well-packaged, and complete, with clear instructions. My readings seem consistent with my diet. I'm very satisfied with the meter. I haven't used the included lancing device, as I purchased separately a vacuum lancing device for absolutely pain-free lancing. (I didn't mind the pain of lancing so much as I did the lingering soreness on my fingertips! With my vacuum lancing device, I have it set so that the lancing pain is unnoticeable, and the after-lancing soreness is ABSENT!!! Whoopee!)

I'm an RN, so using blood monitors is pretty straight forward for me, and this monitor is as simple as it comes. Loading the batteries and setting the date and time was easy. The lancets were painless, and getting the meter to read was quick and, I assume, accurate. The only 2 minor drawbacks for me were: 1) I wish the directions had more illustrations. I was momentarily confused about which end of the strip to insert, and I wasted a strip. It is described with words, but an illustration would have been more clear. 2) I wish there was a chart that showed what blood levels meant. It was a quick internet search, but still, it would have been helpful. Other than those 2 tiny caveats, this monitor is perfect and a good value for the money.

Was impressed with the initial low cost. However, setup of date/time was not well explained and could only be setup in 24 military time and not normal 12/12 time. Next to date/time button was a switch and I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out its purpose only to find in small fine print on bottom of instruction page that switch is useless and ignore it. Wow, poor engineering to be sure. I inserted batteries and set up time and date and proceeded to test my keto level. Ok, here is where it goes very wrong! I proceeded to do my first test. The test went well and a 10 second countdown commenced and I received my keto reading of 6.4! 6.4, their graph in their paperwork went up to high of 5.0! I researched this number to learn that I was in danger of keto acidosis and should seek emergency medical help immediately! I could collapse and go into a coma! I was shocked and decided to do another test. Shortly thereafter I performed a second test only to find it incredibly went up even higher to 7.1! I was on the verge of going to the hospital although I felt fine. I did some more quick research and decided to do a 3rd test. After the 3rd test my level was 2.1. What a relief as I didn’t have any of the symptoms and felt fine. I can’t tell you how much this shook me up! I also remember seeing in the reviews that one complaint was the meter gave different readings, I’m here to confirm this. DO NOT buy this product. I purchased the Keto Mojo. While it cost more it has both glucose and keto readings and the company has a long excellent reputation and good customer support and most importantly a keto/glucose meter that gives consistent accurate readings. It also has a great phone app which works flawlessly. Hope my disaster helps someone. Good luck!

I really like this product, the only reason i'm not saying it's 5/5 for accuracy is because nothings ever 100% accurate. I've read a few reviews on here and those reviewers are confused... You only need to check once a day at most, if you check multiple times in 10 minutes it will change, that's because no number will stay the same for any length of time in regards to keto levels, glucose levels etc... They will always fluctuate, even if there was a perfect way to test ketone levels, it would also fluctuate if you checked multiple times, whether that be in 10 minutes or through out the day. Get the kit, it's a good kit and as long as you're not obessive over the numbers and test multiple times a day you'll get a fantastic idea on where you are in your ketosis journey.

Attention, ne faites pas la même erreur que moi : c’est un lecteur de cétones, PAS de glycémie. Donc si vous cherchez à suivre votre taux de sucre, passez votre chemin, ça ne fonctionnera pas pour ça. Cela dit, je l’ai gardé quand même, parce qu’il fonctionne très bien, il est précis, rapide, compact, et la petite pochette fournie est super pratique : tout est bien rangé, facile à emporter partout. Très bon produit si vous suivez un régime cétogène ou surveillez vos cétones pour des raisons médicales. Na een tijdje teste de apparaat alleen 0.2 dus ik heb toen op een teststrip water gebruikt inplaats van bloed en WEER 0.2 Dagen achter elkaar 0.2 het maakt niet uit of je hebt gegeten of niet het blijft 0.2

Ganz einfach zu bedienen und man hat in Sekunden das Ergebnis. Mit dem Gerät bin ich sehr zufrieden. Ich hoffe, dass ich hier auch die Teststreifen bekomme.
