Love it, don't leave it

This thing is a beast. I use Propellerhead's Reason as my main/only DAW, and although it has some decent amp simulation modules, all of it pales in comparison to the sound of the Fly Rig 5 v2, right out of the box.Really dig the built-in speaker emulation, the two reverb types, and the sweet delay options. Every dial on this thing is sensitive, and there's a lot of different tones and effects you can get. It's got a nice weight to it, and it's so very tiny. Can fit into any gig bag. Build quality feels excellent.Would be cool to be able to save custom presets. In a way, it forces you to know the gear / how far to turn each knob, which is okay by me.And it's true what everyone says about the Plexi - it's almost unusable without the Blonde turned on. But they even mention this in the manual, so it was no surprise.Having this thing in my bedroom inspires me to play so much more guitar on a regular basis. Feels good man.

Useable no matter what!

Really a nice and very flexible piece of kit. For me just necessary features and each easy to access for tweak purposes. A lot of attention was put in to make this useable by a lot of people and various conditions. Can work with or without an amp, or as a compliment to other pedals on your pedal board. The 2 drives are excellent by themselves and compliment each other when stacked to give a rich palette of drive tones. The delay and reverb are workman worthy to be useful across a large spectrum of situations. All features on this kit may be fairly generic to serve wide purposes, but are all implemented with boutique quality. Simply easy to use and made to be very useable. Can't emphasize that enough. Can truly save a lot of room and looks built to be durable. Exceeded my expectations!

Really wanted to like this

I loved everything about the fly rig other than the fact it was noisy. It was too noisy to use at church so I sent it back. Liked the features and effects included, nice well thought ought design, easy to use. Would have kept if not for the noise.

Quit Working after about 1 1/2 years

I loved the pedal. I purchased it to have in the studio as an option for players coming in the studio utilize. I have only used this on a couple of occasions for myself when needing a quick interface to the studio control room for recording direct. I recently hooked it up again and it did not power up. I've been a working musician for years and this kind of equipment doesn't just quit working. My only conclusion is some internal component gave out. Would be great if i could get a replacement or repair.

Works for me!

I am retired from live gigs, so I use my Fly Rig only at home. But for me, it is just about perfect. I had the first generation Fly Rig. It was OK, but lacked some bells and whistles that I would have liked. This new version 2.0 checks all the boxes, adding two flavors of overdrive, two flavors of boost, on/off choice for speaker emulation, a tuner, two flavors of reverb, and two flavors of delay.I run my Fly Rig into a small, pedal-sized amp (Quilter). The amp has a headphone jack and also an output to a traditional speaker cabinet. This rig does everything I want in a very small package.

The Fly Rig 5 Version 2 is tha bomb!!

I am a seasoned, experienced guitar player that is always striving for a better, fatter, juicier guitar tones, cleans, crunch, lead and heavy chording work... I need a tone full rig, whether it be my 50 watt ‘69 Marshall head, my ‘86 Mesa/Boogie MK III head or my Boss Katana 100 head... But I wasn’t prepared for the simply elegant, rich and searing tones I get with the Tech21 Fly Rig 5 version 2 unit!!! I run the xlr output to the board and the 1/4” output to my 1x12” Vox combo’s FX return for a stage reference/monitor and it just kills it!! I can get awesome clean chime with the Blonde preamp then hit it with the high-gain switch in either the Mesa/Boogie or Plexi mode and shazaaaam! The reverb is great (2 room sizes) as is the delay which has a Drift control that adds a bit of warble/modulation.... I have this unit installed on a Pedaltrain Classic Jr. board with a Clyde Wah, a 2005 MI Audio Tube Zone (3-knob version, the best OD on the planet!), a Joyo chorus and flange units because I need some cover song coverage and it’s blowing everyone away!!

Not good for ampless setup

In theory, this is a perfect solution for an analog ampless rig, it's even marketed as such. You even get to keep your current pedals! Perfect in theory, but in the real world... the blonde channel is ok, the plexi/recto channel is extremely bright. I could not get usable tones from this channel when going direct. It's not as bad through a guitar amp (no tweeter) No one has really mentioned it, but I think the reverb is terrible on this unit. I've never heard worse reverb, and I had a bugera once. The boost is ok, but I had 1 situation where even at the lowest setting, it was too much so I couldn't use it. I really wanted to love this, it was supposed to be my solution
