Pretty straight forward install. Now I don't attribute this to just cuz its a K&N but I noticed better throttle response on the first drive. Then when I filled my tank I noticed that the miles till empty were 25 miles higher than before I replaced the filter. So seat of the pants it feels better and wallet says it performs better. Now the old filter had unknown miles on it but looked pretty clean before I drove from Ohio to CA and when I replaced it I noted that it was filthy. So the gains could just be relate to installing a clean filter and I would have seen the same benefits from a different filter. I like the K&N because they gave me a sticker :D

Great addition to the filter

I've had great success using this prefilter wrap on my K&N intake in my Tacoma. I've ran that intake for years and always take off the filter and wash it after a dusty road trip, but now the wrap protects most of that dust and debris collecting in the filter ribs. I just slide off this sleeve (it has elastic on both openings) and shake it out most times or I rinse it with my hose and let it dry. It's a little finicky putting it on over your filter, but a little common sense goes a long way. I like the blue as it matches my truck color. But most of all, it really does work both for dust AND as a hydrophobic cover. You can see its effectiveness clearly by popping your hood and sprinkling water on this installed sleeve (not while vehicle is running), and you'll see the water just sheet off and stay out of your filter. Nice extra layer of protection for those times when you splash though puddles or mud. Serviceable in the field with no tools, this is a must-have to protect your K&N intake filter. Double check what model of filter kit you have before buying! They are all slightly different, and these wraps are built to fit specific models.

Definitely catches some debris and finer particles so they don't get stuck in the actual filter. Easy to clean off and at the very least protects your filter.

I decided to replace after 80,000 miles. Just make sure you get the right size..

I bought this for my 4.0sohc 2003 ford ranger and it fits right on no problems whatever!

I purchased this as a replacement for a damaged filter (damaged from a loose intake tube). The filters are great. They come pre-oiled and ready to use out of the box. Anyone in the racing circles knows these are the best filters you can buy! Now the best part....I have a filter charger kit on my car and had an issue with the tube coming loose. I contacted K&N via email. The next day, I received a call from a real American, speaking real English who was eager to help me. The guy on the phone sent me several replacement parts including a new filter at no charge and gave me his direct line in the event that did not resolve the issue. It turned out just to be a bad hose clamp. However, I learned that these guy really care and stand behind there products. They earned a lifetime customer with me.
