Great reference or for beginners
Great book for learning VHDL and to use for reference. Will definitely keep in my library. I don't think this is the best material for advanced users as some of my assignments require me to look elsewhere.

Useful Reference
This book was required for a class and ended up being a great resource for learning VHDL. I only rented it because of the price and was disappointed to have to send it back.

A bit old, with no revision.
A lot of "examples" in this text need to be updated, as the coding in more current IDEs don't use that specific terminology anymore. As for general understanding, it's alright, clear and lots of examples, but as before, if you're using a more current IDE software (like Xilinx or similar) a lot of the coding is incorrect and doesn't translate to the program, but the structure of the coding does. Just be careful if you're trying to implement what you're learning on your own.

Only get this book if you need it for the homework questions or you like having a course supplement
This was a book required by a VHDL class I took while completing my undergrad degree. I only ever opened it to look at the homework questions. I never had to read it because I had a good professor, but when skimming through the chapters, it didn't seem like any of the ideas/concepts were presented in a way as clear as the professor made them.

Best book for a reader who wants to know about the digital circuit design more deeply
Indeed I am a S/W program for embedded system. My recent new job position wants me to write VHDL code to design digital circuit. So I have been studied VHDL language for four months. I mastered two VHDL books which describe basic language syntax and examples before. This Digital Systems Design Using VHDL is my third book in my self-study course. This is definitely not for a beginner. This book let me know principle way of digital circuit work and try to think how design work. From this book I got answers to questions while I had among reading two basic books.I wonder why the rate of this book is not good. I am sure that writers are truly professional digital circuit designers who can describe it easily and quite clearly from their deep knowledge. Thanks

Not exacly what I was expecting
Well I the book is not in an awful condition. But I was looking for books that were in really good condition and this has some pages that have a lot of things written down. And the CD is missing which apparently has a lot of useful information

Strong introduction to VHDL and DSD
This book provides a very good introduction to VHDL and digital systems design. The material is presented well, and the larger designs in the back of the book are pretty useful. The 2nd edition has some pretty nice changes from the 1st edition, particularly in some of the designs throughout the book. The material -- the presentation and layout -- is basically the same. However, it's worth buying this edition due to the changes in the designs.
