Horses: The Definitive Catalog of Horse and Pony Breeds

This is a beautiful book-- could be a "coffee table book" in my house. I have a 7 year old who is becoming interested in horses and she is the "memorize all the facts about the thing I like" type of personality. I got this for her as a birthday gift and when I opened it to peek, I could hardly put it down because it was so interesting. The photos and information in this book are fascinating and it's going to be fun watching her enjoy learning about the history behind different breeds of horses and their colors and abilities. Really cool book, appropriate for elementary school age (I think 7 or 8) and up. Teens and adults would not feel talked down to as it doesn't explicitly say "HEY KIDS! Let's learn about horsies!" Or anything cheesy like that. I'm so glad I purchased it.

Beautiful color illustrations and lots of info. BUT-the Friesians were omitted! (It's a large book and should be hardcover because it's heavy and floppy).

I have ordered two different copies of this book separately to give as a gift. Both "high quality" photo books were damaged when they arrived. The first one I ordered arrived with a cut on the cover page. I didn't have time to send it back and needed to order a good copy to give as a gift. So, I spent the money on a second copy. When it arrived, it was also damaged but damaged differently. The spine was damaged on the 2nd copy. I am returning both copies and am very unhappy about this situation.

My daughter has recently gotten into horses and has been taking lessons and getting to know the fundamentals of horses this book made her light up on Christmas as now she is able to learn about all the different horses out there

A stunning book and a must have for anyone who loves horses. The pictures and details are amazing.
