This slide sheet is perfect for me. Up to now, I was not able to rest in bed because I had to lie on my side near the edge of the mattress so that I could easily get up. I ended up with a sore shoulder. Today, I was able to lie down, slide around, change position effortlessly and rest. It is amazing how loss of friction enables one to move their hips with minimal effort! I had been begging the district nurses for this sheet for months but they kept refusing for "health and safety reasons". They thought I would end up on the floor and hurt myself. The truth is I hurt myself trying to get out of bed with my body stuck on the mattress and my own weight keeping me trapped. They said the material will damage my skin because I am not meant to sleep on it. Well, tonight is a hot night yet I feel fresh as a daisy because there is now a barrier between my body and the blasted memory foam that traps body heat! So here is how to use it. Lay it across the bed placing it one hand below the bottom of your pillow. This way the sliding sheet will be mostly under your bum. Your legs and feet will be free to latch onto the mattress and so will your shoulders. The extra hand space helps me in getting into bed as my bed is high and I cannot lift my legs up. So I put my hands on the mattress and one knee and do a jump-flip motion. Can't put both knees as they are damaged and I can't lie on my stomach. Anyway, it works for me. I also secured the far edge of the slide sheet under my duvet. Believe it or not, the duvet is heavy enough to keep it in place. I was able to turn myself with a bit of effort (had to ask help to remove the heavy duvet out of the way.) I can't describe how happy that made me. I am glad I trusted my instinct in choosing this product. And what's more, I found out they do a smaller sheet for the car! Hurray! So if you are trapped in your body like me and need a product that will give you back some independence, this is perfect! Bye-bye annoying bathroom curtain! Hello relaxation!
