clean those nice rims regularly
Installed on my 98 Audi a6 quattro 15,000 miles ago.The pads work.....lol. Less dust then OEM, but don't fool yourself; clean those nice rims regularly!Stopping power compared with OEM is DEFINITELY NOT as good. Will still lock the tires up in an emergency. As a previous reviewer noted; these pads don't heat up like most if not every pad the average driver is familiar with. The rate at which you slow down increases as a direct function of brake pedal pressure. In other words; you will be applying more pressure and having to push the pedal further with each stop. Whereas the OEM pads you press the pedal a little and you can feel the pads biting/gripping harder after a few moments of hitting the brakes, due to the pads heating up. Not a bad thing, just can throw some people off if they are not used to it.I bought these after searching online for some decently priced ceramic pad so I didn't have to clean my aftermarket rims as often. Well I guess they've worked for that.Depending on how long these pads last will determine if I switch to a better pad. If they last a long ass time then I might consider purchasing them again. But as it stands I will not be buying these pads again and would prefer to switch back to cleaning my rims more often with OEM pads

Wow. Nice brake pads!
I installed this set on my 2000 VW Passat 4Motion AWD wagon. Instructions were included and were very straight forward. Necessary shims were provided. Take your time and follow the instructions as the pads are directional, though they are marked well. Make sure to clean all surfaces where the pads ride and use the supplied lubricant where recommended. A word of "caution for VW/Audi owners". When pushing the piston back into the caliper, it's wise to open the bleeder valve and use a brake bleeder kit to capture the excess fluid without allowing air to enter the system, as opposed to forcing it back into the brake reservoir. Reason for this procedure is to prevent damage to your ABS Module. I did not used this procedure, and even though I very gently returned the piston into the caliper, I ended up getting the ABS light, brake light, and Brake Fault warning on my dash. It is a common problem with these Bosch 5.3 systems. Your brakes will still work, but you will encounter costly problems down the road. I ended up having to replace my ABS module. The pads themselves are really quiet. They stop the vehicle well, although they have a less aggressive feel to them IMO. Not at all a problem with my driving style. I liked them enough to put a set on the rear as well. You need a special tool to rotate the piston into the caliper on the rear. The brake caliper wind back tool I used, I purchased on Amazon.com as well. I purchased the Astro Pneumatic Model# 78618 - 18 piece set. Overall I would definitely recommend these Akebono pads to anyone with normal driving habits. For extremely aggressive drivers, you may want to consider other pads.

Excellent daily driver ceramic pads for VW/Audi
I've been using these on my '03 Passat 1.8T for most of a decade, and a close variant (varies only re wear sensor) on '02 Jetta for the same period, with the same good results.Several very good things about these pads:1. gentle wear on rotors, so new rotors very seldom needed -- may actually reduce total cost of brake maintenance2. the pads work: stop at least as well as stock, and as at least as quietly3. the brake dust is less noticeable and easier to clean than semi-metallic typesThe only "proviso" is that, during this decade long time interval since these came out, many competitive ceramic pad products have appeared that are either less expensive or claim better performance. I find the small price difference non-compelling, and so stick with this product. Also "interesting" on these cars is that rear brakes wear much quicker; happily rear pads and rotors are smaller and cheaper.

Turned out my brakes were fine, just some squealing due to brake dust so I returned these ones. My girlfriend grew up with her father and uncle specializing in European Autos and she will only drive BMW. She commended me on choosing a high quality brake pad all on my own. I didn't have a chance to use the brakes but service concerning the return was great.

No brake dust
Great product. No brake dust. Cheaper to buy here than your local auto parts store.I own a 2002 VW Passat. I do not notice any difference in performance compared to OEM brakes.

These arrived quickly and they are great. No break-in period
These arrived quickly and they are great. No break-in period, no squealing as they 'seat' and they stop in a very luxurious manner. I'm very happy with these ceramic pads. They come as shown here.
