Practical Mental Magic Paperback – October 9, 2008

Great classic of magic! Wonderful effects with timeless applications. Yes, many of the tricks are written for another time, but they can easily be updated with some creative thinking. The reading is a bit more complicated, I would not recommend this for young readers. Here let's try a quick reading right now.... I am feeling that you are sometimes insecure, especially with people you don't really know well. You have a lot of old unsorted photographs at home... When you were young, you had some sort of an accident involving water. and right now you're experiencing some tension with a friend or a relative at the moment?Think of a number between 1 and 10.....Got it?6

This is one of the best sources to have to mental magic. There are effects in this book that fool other mentalist. This material has been overlooked and under used. It is the best investment you can make as a mentalist.

I loved this ebook so much I ordered the printed copy of this book and there is a lot of good stuff in this book.

I feel the same way about all my magic books.Not particularly easy to read. All magic books are usually pretty obscure, for a reason: Magic doesn't really exist, and tricks are nothing more than obsuring the audiences perception. A good magician never learns from a book, they learn from another good magician. I don't know why I thought this would be different. It'll teach you concepts, but to truly pull these things off requires lots of practice.

Practical mental magic includes a lot of magic tricks. I think that it is a good book for beginners of mental magic. Actually, the reason I bought this book is because the famous mentalist Max Maven recommended this book in one of his interviews. He said that although this book was written long ago, some of the methods were still used in these days. After I read this book, I have to say it is awesome, though some tricks were not really good. However, I picked a few tricks from the book and performed to my friends, they were all freaked out. Looking at their faces, I knew that I have bought the right book.

Must have for any mentalist. Some of the most closely held secrets are in this book

I had read recommendations saying that these tricks were easy to do -- and perhaps they are, if you're a wonder at sleight of hand and enjoy lots of preparing and folding and concealing and slipping things into secret panels and misdirecting and spouting old-timey magic act patter.Most of the gimmicks are stagey and involve special props, so it's not just something you could do spontaneously. The steps are too involved and tedious for me. The font, verbiage and illustrations are very 1950s. ...Just checked the original copyright: 1944 -- and it looks like nothing's been updated since then. For example, the very first chapter is titled "Effects with Billets and Pellets"... what and what?! Whatever it is, it involves a lot of paper-folding and switching. Just not what I thought at all -- I was hoping for really straightforward cool, easy tricks.

Uno dei libri fondamentali per un buon mentalista insieme a "13 gradini del mentalismo" di Corinda.Moltissimi effetti provenienti da questo libro sono divenuti dei veri e propri classici, e molti dei principi presenti vengono usati ancora oggi dai mentalisti più conosciuti.Alcuni effetti possono sembrare leggermente datati, e probabilmente se presi così come descritti nel libro lo sono, ma con un po' d'impegno ed ingegno potrete facilmente modernizzarli.L'inglese del libro è un inglese molto semplice, quindi di facile comprensione anche per chi non mastica benissimo la lingua.

print quality of text is not the best, a bit tinny and not sharp letters, but still okey for me they must improve this hwoever.content quality is the expected, good mental tricks.

Die Bibel. Gibt kein besseres Buch über Mentalmagie. Wer sich ernsthaft dafür interessiert braucht MINDESTENS folgende drei Bücher:- Corinda 13 steps to mentalism- Annemann, Practical Mental Magic- Bob Cassidy, FundamentalsUm ein wirklich umfangreiches Wissen anzusammeln, benötigt man deutlich mehr Bücher. Hier sei auf die Liste von Bob Cassidy verwiesen, "The Thirty-Nine Steps to Mentalism" (einfach googlen). Achja nochwas: Mentalist wird man nicht über Nacht, das benötigt viele viele Monate hartes Training, Skripte usw. Erst nach ein paar Jahren und vielen Auftritten kann man sich schließlich einen "Mentalisten" schimpfen - ob man dann noch ein "guter Mentalist" ist, steht auf einem anderen Blatt.
